Since there's no real box-set and of course, I'm really short on cash (As is, I only have 3.75$ Can. Everything else goes to tuition! T_T ) I guess maybe it's floating around on the Internet....? ^^; I'm not even sure if that'll work.....

Automan ROCKED!
Ok, to some, the show was just a cheesy rip-off of TRON. And it was indeed basically a TV version of TRON, where the computer guy, Automan, was in the real world as a hologram instead of a user getting digitized in the computer world.
"Cursor" was basically "Bit", but could turn in to the Autocar and the Autochopper and I think the Autocycle (don't remember what those vehicles were actually called).
I LOVED that show. I was about 12 or 13 when it was on TV and watched each episode. I was very disappointed when it was canceled - and it was all so soon. I mean the show had just got off the ground and it was shut down. 
TRON it was not. But to a kid who LOVED TRON more than anything (me), it was close enough.
And it was hilarious when the cop character would be in the Autocar with Automan and the car would turn at 90 degree angles and he (the cop character) would get slammed up against the window because Automan was not subject to gravity, but the cop character was!   The Autocar moved a lot like a light cycle, only without the trail.
The special effects were not quite up to par with TRON, but given the FX tools they had to work with at the time and the short production schedule of a 1-hour weekly TV show, the effects were pretty damn cool!
I also remember when Automan was under cover, he'd wear regular cloths, and you'd be able to see his collar glowing blue, and his wrists too. It was kind of silly, but cool too.
And every morning, when people would start waking up and turning on their coffee makers and TV's, Automan would start to loose his power and would have to head back in to the computer world where he existed. Yep, Automan was only out during the night.
Well, I thought that show was great. I'd buy the DVD collection if I ever came across it and it was priced right. Why not?

Sounds kinda similar to either Video Girl Ai or A.I Love you.... but a very minor similarity.
I think that there should be an Automan manga! I mean it would be a great way to bring it back and it would make an awesome manga. Manga dealing with gendres simialr to this have traditionally done quite well.... So I'd imagine an Automan Manga would be quite sucessful.... as long as you got a good artist on board.

The only think I didn't like about Automan was his hair. It seemed wrong after how everyone in Tron had helmets.... and hair on a program seemed somewhat unnatural. (Yes, I know Dumont had a beard)
Although, now that I think about it, the way his hair was shaped and sculpted and the amount of hair spray it must have taken to do that probably made it a helmet of sorts.

Yeah - it was a VERY cool show!
I thought so anyway.
In TRON, the light cycles kind of rezzed in around the characters. In Automan, "Cursor" would kind of draw in (by leaving a trail) the outer wire frame of the vehicle and it would form in like that.
Jeez, this Automan thread is really making ME want to see it again!

Well Dumont was kind of slide for me on that. Your right though is seems unatural that he should have had a helmet as well. But I think tht would have ben an infringement of some sort because it was kind of tronish looking though. Even though he's a hologram though. It would have looked even weirder in our worlfd.

Well, I do agree that Twin Peaks Season 2 needs to be out NOW!!!!
But, while I think the Director's Cut of the first Star Trek film is a damn good film, nothing compares to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Ricardo Montalban + Overacting Shatner = STUFF OF LEGENDS!!!
And I think ST 6: The Undiscovered Country is greatness as well.
Now if they'd just release Freakazoid on DVD so I could see Ricardo spoof Khan as Freak's arch-nemesis, Guitierez!

Well,
I got my Automan DVDR's and they're just booted copies from the Bravo channel (As I expected). They compressed them pretty good, it seems as there is a little pixelization. Still... $5 seems cheap to have had someone do all the work for me
If anyone here is interested in seeing them I can work on trying to get them into the mp4 format, to try and fit them all on a couple of CD's (I do not have a DVD burner). I need to know if anyone is actually interested before I start though.
To my international friends... I have no problems shipping to you, must may need your help covering any postal charges... overseas mail isn't cheap.
Anyway, if anyone is interested, let me know.
