This is a really old issue that goes back a year or two and hasn't been fixed yet.
Went posting on the forums (either posting a new thread or a comment) the site hangs for about 5 to 10 mins.

Thanks for the comments, guys. You know what, my old 19" monitor finally went out on me a month or two ago... and I switched to a 17" monitor. I thought it was somehow displaying as much as my 19", but that wouldn't make sense. The step up from 17 to 19 is supposed to give you a fair amount of additional viewing area.
Since I wasn't really feeling claustrophobic on my screen while in Photoshop and other apps, I just thought for some reason the 17 was doing as well as the 19. But now that you say these things, that's probably the issue! Good detective work. I wil just have to upgrade my monitor some day...
Qix - As for replying to posts, I haven't had that issue for a long, long time. I don't post as much as you, though, so maybe I would if I did!

has anyone noticed the search don't work again?
it gives this on the screen when i search:

The search worked for a short while. I enjoyed it. Then grid bugs took it over again...
It hasn't worked again for at least a year or two now.

Not sure what happened as it doesn't look like a typical attack. I'm keeping an eye on it and will make sure whatever happened is properly diagnosed.

this isn't really so much a "bug" per se, as much as it is a suggestion.
Maybe this will change when we switch to the new site, but the user signatures drive me crazy here. I'd prefer it if there were a divider between the body of the post and the signature. As it is, there are times when I'm reading a post and the signature text is directly below it and it can be a little confusing.

You know you can turn off signatures right? Just edit your profile and select 'No'.

Hey, weird issue I spotted. I hit up this thread:

after seeing that someone had posted to it. Now, the forum page said it was one user, but the post itself showed a different user with some weird hybrid of the two users' signatures.
