Speaking of Pac-Man... I found this neat "java" reincarnation of Pac-Man. Not bad for java. Quite faithfully reproduces several of the sounds we all know and love...
http://www.jazzyjoe.com/game_pacman.html
I only got about 22,200 points the first time I tried. How do you all do? I'm not used to using the arrow keys as my controls :P
I like playing arcade Ms. Pac-Man better than arcade Pac-Man. The "fast" version that several arcades use, that is. I've gotten over 100,000 points on that as my highest score. I think it was around 120,000.
Speaking of high scores: I remember getting about 35,000 points on the Atari 2600 Pacman. And I think I got a little over 100,000 points on Space Invaders, also for the Atari 2600. Ahh, those were the days. I think I was about 7 or 8 years old. I just talked to my older brother who watched me get so many points on Space Invaders and he thinks I was playing that game for "hours" when I got that high score. The score only goes up to 9999 I think on Space Inv, so I think I remember "turning it over" 10 times, if I remember correctly. Parents were watching, too, and helping keep track. I don't know if I was playing that single game for "hours," but I do remember it was a long time! ...and at least an hour is a definite possibility.
I found this sad factoid on the net:
TEven though Atari made millions from Space Invaders (well over 100 million), programmer Rick Maurer only received around $11,000 for his amazing conversion. Rick left Atari shortly after he finished Space Invaders because of this. Quite frankly I don't blame him, you think with 100 million in profits Atari could have thrown a bit more his way. Well wherever you are Rick, there's at least one gamer out there who thinks you got a raw deal |

Hmm.... I can really see Pinky or Sue being guys.....
Of course a Tron Sector Packman? Oh.... that is so reminding me of a dream I had.... I had this strange dream that I was back on campus on the first floor and Sark ran out of the Women's Room (Probably in there adjusting his "thongs" ) and started to chase me around my computer desk. It was all fine until he caught up and gave me a swift punch in the gut. >_0; So if Tron Sector Packman is nearly as dangerous as that.... I would have to say don't do it. I don't feel like getting up....

...ok, a brief summary of sketch's idea...
Basically, the programs rezz in in a maze. They are given prods like the gaurds used in Tron, each rod glowing a color of a pac-man ghost. (red: inky, blue:blinky, etc.)
a giant Pac-program (basically a giant pac-man) would try to run around, eating the dots...the programs would try to catch it and hit it with their rods. But when it got the BIG dot...the programs would scream and run...
The object...stop pac-man...
That's what I got out of it...sketch could probably explain it better...(it WAS his idea, after all...)
*props to sketch*
