The idea of TRON 2.0 in 3D stems from another thread here.
I've put together these 3D TRON 2.0 images by taking two slightly offset screen caps (one for left eye view and one for right eye view) while trying to maintain a single focal point in space.
To view the images in 3D - you must put your face about 8 to 12 inches away from your monitor and cross your eyes as you look at each image (pair of left-right images) so that the two images come together in the middle of what will appear to be three images, the middle one appearing to be 3D. (the image on the right is for the left eye, and image on the left is for the right eye) Be careful though - don't cross your eyes for too long because I don't think it's good for you.
It's kind of tricky doing this right, so some of the images appear to have more depth than others. But if you're able to get your eyes properly crossed and focus on the image in the middle, you will be able to see the images in 3D! These images won't pop out at you, but you should be able to see clear depth to them.
Enjoy, and let me know if you were able to see them in 3D.

LOL, I guess I can't do it. Looking 'through' the picture (like the old red puzzles we discussed in that other thread) seems like it would have a lesser chance of permanent eye damage I'm having difficulty trying to cross my eyes to view a focal point in front of the screen (as I think we're supposed to do with these), without feeling as though I'm going to screw my eyes up
It's all good, I'll take your word for it that it's cool.

I wouldn't be able to do it myself over here. Because of my eye condition.

A bit difficult to refoucus your eyes afterwords, but besides that...
Very cool images there, Todd! My favorite is Image three, definitely... I'd be curious about how much you moved left/right for each image... and the amount of depth is really quite cool- I am curious... have you attempted createing larger 3d images? Of course you couldn't exceed your screen width, but I'm interested in possibly trying this myself...

Don't worry, Traahn - not everyone will be able to cross their eyes just right. It's tricky... and hurts! If you want to give it another try though, you really do have to cross your eyes and try to focus on a single focal point in the 3D image. I would suggest trying the 3rd image down - the box thing with the orange data stream coming out of it. See the little blue aim circle in the middle of each view? Try to focus on that point when you cross your eyes and you might be able to get the image in 3D. But give it a rest when they start to hurt again

I'm sorry about your eye condition, Compucore. At least you're eyes won't be hurting by trying to cross them to look at these though My eyes were crossed a little longer than they probably should have been while I was working on these this morning. They hurt for some time afterward and I had trouble focusing on regular things for a while.

Haaaa! So you were able to get it in 3D then, eh Harpo989? Great! And yes, it is weird trying to focus normally after holding my eyes crossed like that for a while. Best not to keep them crossed for more than a few moments at a time
The reason image 3 came out so well is probably because I got the distance between each view really good and also the fact that there is some great depth potential in that image, as simple as its contents is.
If you'd like to try and capture stereo images yourself, here's what you've got to do:
1) Choose a focal point in the scene. You'll need to have that exact focal point in your aiming circle for BOTH views or else the trick won't work. Remember that when your eyes are looking at an object, they're BOTH focused on a single focal point at the same time.
2) The distance between left eye and right eye views in real live is very small - only about 2 and a half inches or so. In the game, you'll want to shoot for the equivalent of about 6 inches to a foot. The reason is because if you approximate the 2 and a half inches that your eyes really sit at, the depth won't turn out very well. The 4th image, looking up at the blue stream, was very close to REAL eye distance, and seems to have the least amount of perceivable depth to it. At the same time, if you go too far apart, the stereo images won't come together properly and form a 3D image. I just tapped my right-strafe key between images.
3) The screen capture drill: Identify focal point in area that has no movement. Put aiming circle on that focal point. Screen capture the left eye. Tap the right- strafe key ever so carefully so that you only move just a touch (about 6 cyber inches or so). Then refocus your aiming circle on that focal point again as it will now be slightly to the right of it. Then screen cap again to capture the right eye view.
4) In an image editing utility, arrange the images right next to each other. The right-eye view has to go on the left side, and the left-eye view has to go on the right side. When you look at them cross eyed, the images will each be seen by the proper eye creating the 3D image.
That's how to work it. Keep in mind that I had several more images than I posted here. It's not an exact science and I screwed up trying to get BOTH views right several times. And some of them that I thought I got right, didn't make a very good 3D image when I putabortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Darn. Still can't do it.
Do I put my face in front of either the left or the right image and focus in front of that image (thus, bringing the other image across into view), or do I put my face in-between the images and look either left or right to focus on an aim point on either the left or right side, somehow bringing the pictures into alignment from the opposite side? Oh well, maybe it doesn't matter as neither way has worked for me...
I think I can almost get it, but my face has to be 2 or 3 inches away from my monitor, which doesn't seem right. And whatever I see is pretty blurry. Plus, the EMFs from my monitor are probably giving me a brain tumor when I try
I'm willing to give it one more shot if you have the time/energy to clarify one last time. Sorry I'm such a trouble maker

Ok, for those of you who are having trouble getting your eyes to see the images in 3D, here's how it works:
Study this visual helper to learn how to look at the images in 3D.
You need to keep your eyes about 8 to 12 inches away from the screen (depending on screen size) to get it to work. It's kind of tricky to keep the 3D image in focus while your eyes are crossed though.
If you can't get it - don't worry about it. It's not worth the pain it causes to keep trying

Yeow is right! Good grief, TheReelTodd! Are you trying to make us go permanently cross-eyed!?!! LOL I finally got it though!
First off, thanks a LOT for making that visual aid to teach us! I don't think I ever would've gotten it without that. It turns out I wasn't crossing my eyes nearly enough. You really almost have to focus as if you're trying to see the tip of your nose!
It was definitely cool, but I don't think I'll be repeating that experiment any time soon -- given the strain on the 'ole eyes

I wasn't expecting you to know that. It was a condition that I had since I was born. And I can only use one eye at a time. Otherwise Information overload for my eyes.. THe exact namn eludes me for the moment. I would be able to say it but I can't even spell the darn thing. I would hav to ask an eye specialist in order to spell it out So don't worry about it.

Bah! Cross-eyed-ness!
Interesting idea there. But just as a wee bit of curiosity, wouldn't those 3D glasses also do something very similar without doing something weird with our eyes? Just a thought here. ^^;;

Hey Harpo989 - you did a great job on your 3D images! They all worked very well. You picked some good locations too - with plenty of depth.
Whoa... my eyes!
Man - looking at images cross eyed does take a toll on one's eyes! I've crossed my eyes more in the last few days than I have probably in the last YEAR!

Actually the 3D glasses don't cause any discomfort to your eyes because you focus normally wearing them, and not cross-eyed. I wish there were a better way to produce home-grown 3D images without having to do the cross eyed thing, but without colored or polarized glasses, that's about all we can do to see them.

AWSOME!
That is great! It's like being one step closer to the "electronic world."
Man, I'm a stereoscopic fanatic - I wish I thought of it! Wish I caught this thread before.
Of course, the folks having trouble crossing their eyes can print the images out and look at them through an old stereoscopic viewer.

Good idea. I wish I had one of those. I like the old ones... from long, long ago. I remember stumbling across an old one in an antique shop when I was just a young one. There were boxes full of old stereoscopic black and white photos next to it. I was so amazed to see such depth created from those old 2-D photographs.
Now, that thought of being there is just a misty watercolor memory.
