I feel a lot of being able to draw is a combination of hard work, practice, patience and an internal enjoyment of the very action of drawing. Of course, this depends on what you want your art to look like. Some artists just use colors and splash them onto a canvas. They're creating, so that can be considered artwork. But in my opinion, that form of artwork doesn't require as much practice as someone who maybe wants to be able to draw a proportionally correct human figure from memory or a photorealistic landscape scene or something. That artwork can be very beautiful, as can any art, but it's a different form. Granted, some people do have the innate ability to do any of these things without much practice or effort, but a lot of people have to practice.
But going back to what I was saying, if you don't derive any pleasure from the act of drawing and you don't have patience to sit there and draw for a couple hours at a time, then the likelihood of you making time to practice to get better is slim. That's the same for many things. So, you'll always say you can't draw and you'll never get better. It's a cycle. I spent many years studying a friend's sketchbooks to learn things. I was truly amazed at what he could do with little effort. For him, drawing came naturally. For me, it took a lot of practice, and I'm still a long ways from where I want to be. From my own experience, I'm a testament to the fact that you can improve your skills with practice. I could always color things and copy other drawings fairly well I thought, but it took me a long time to be able to draw stuff on my own and have those things turn out the way I wanted. I still struggle.
I can't play the piano or guitar very well, but if I practiced a lot I know I could get better. I just don't have the patience or strong enough motivation for it right now. As for singing, you can get better through practice. Really.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

True, that's a good point. Someone could look at my "art" and think it's the best thing in the world. I guess I was approaching it from my standpoint and how I would interprit my art. I guess I could be taught to mimic someone's style or draw like how someone wants me to draw and then be "satisfied" with it, but I just don't think I have the innate talent to be able to turn out something that I would be happy with without having to mimic someone else's style.
I guess I'll just have to be happy with my in-born talents like X-Ray vision and the ability to leap capital letters in a single bound.

Sketch Wrote:...That robot sketch I posted on the first page derived from this image.
I drew this construction bot design during a few classes. You can still see the page lines in the image. I fixed it up in photoshop using my tablet. Still think his chest panel is sloppy looking, mainly because how the neck piece connects with it. |
Damn - almost missed that one.
I know this is going to sound a little repetitive, but you make some really cool looking robots, Sketch!
And what can I say - it really does look like a construction bot - by design and the color scheme!
The design is cool, and each mechanism looks as if it has a purpose in the function of the robot, and not just thrown in there just to look cool... although they do also so look
He looks rugged and tough and built with a purpose in mind - to take care of heavy construction work with the skill of Junonian Kreplinger and the might of a Vendemooli Pleakgripper!
Did you ever notice how every creature named on any sci-fi TV show kind of sounds like those two creatures I just made up? They always start off with a planet-type and then the creature type. The creature type can mean something in English or not. I went with more toward the not, but tried to make it sound as if it did have meaning.
Um... sorry - in a weird mood right now!
As I was saying - I dig the robot
