Couldn't we corriograph a time and date across the sector here where we could all join in a game of light cycles or disk arena? I know we are all across the globe here. But enough that we could sync in something that we could all meet here and there so we could all play online here? I know it would be hard from the UK ad Australia. But still to be able to just meet a few here and there. How many do we have in each region here. Going from the West coast to the east coast side.

I'm Eastern as well.
That's probably why I miss people most of the time too. I think only a few of us TRON-Sector members are Eastern time and much of the action seems to take place well after my bed time.

Actually, Light Cycles has been pretty dead now for almost two weeks.
Not sure why. Though it may have something to do with a certain player, that likes to create trouble and crash other servers whenever he gets the chance.
Oh yeah, and BVG's servers have been gone for at least three days now. Will they come back? Hmm.

I am on eastern time as well over here. Most of the other time its usually from central to westtime or really like graveyard shift time to play with the others over the pond there.

LOL, someone just suggest a time already! Hehe. I will start. How about everyone sets their alarm for Saturday (the weekend when nobody theoretically works -- operative word: theoretically) at 2:00pm Eastern Time. (That's 11:00am Pacific.) That was, Friday night party-ers can still stay out late Friday and wake up late on Saturday, and then play a challenging game of Lightcycles.
In summary: 3/11/06 @ 2:00pm Eastern. Does that work for everyone? If not, then suggest a new time. See how easy this will be? abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Hey cool!
I'm going to try and be there. The only thing that might get in the way is I'm not sure what the boss has in mind for my weekend... oh no - I'm not working this weekend or anything... or maybe I am - but around the house, if you know what I mean. It's hard to tell what's in store for the weekend because when you're married, the weekend is not always yours to do with what you choose.
I bet all the married guys just nodded and smirked.
But I'm putting that time in my communicator as a reminder and I hope to make it!

Why do lightcycles sometimes blow up right when you rez-in at the start of a match? |
Yep, you just have to rotate your view so you're not looking at a wall and you should be fine.

Heh... hit the nail on the head.
Why else do you think I stay up late to play? Heck, sometimes I'm not even allowed to stay up!

And those currently single guys... well, they'll get their marital come-uppin's one day too.
Still, I hope I can make it tomorrow.

Oops - missed this the other day.
We like to refer to that as "insta-death".
For me, it usually happens right after I've won a round. The next round begins and as soon as the countdown is done - you just explode before you even get to play.
There's also the "wall-start" that the other people have informed you of. That's easy enough to correct as they pointed out.
But there's no cure for insta-death. We've all had it happen. Those DAMN grid bugs! BVG left MANY of them out there.
BTW - it was nice seeing you on the game grid the other day! (I was playing incognito) I hope you stick with the game long enough to get good at it. It took me SEVERAL months to get any good at the game and be able to hold my own out there, so don't get discouraged. Hmm, I don't think I've seen what you're saying happen before. Every insta-death I remember was a result of the wall orientation...
PS: I hope I can make the Tron Lightcycle meeting @ 2pm Eastern Saturday! Now that I think of it, I have lots of stuff I was wanting to do tomorrow, and that's smack-dab in the middle of my day! It was good to meet up for a very short time with Traahn, and Thereeltodd for a short time. Something was not right on my gaming machine that I had to leave quickly over here. How did everything else go? Who else was there I did not recognize anyone else besides Traah and Thereeltodd.

That ruled! Thanks guys!! (Sorry I was 30 minutes late, though. I failed to set my own 'tron' alarm clock ). I managed to pick the pace up "a little" toward the end there and win a couple, but for the most part... I didn't fair so well against the unstoppable likes of TheReelTodd and Layer So, good gaming you guys. Sorry you weren't able to play long CompuCore, but it was nice seeing glimpses of you there. We should schedule one of these LC get-togethers more often. Once a week, or every other week, or something. I got kicked from the server after that last circuit because it said I didn't have that map loaded. The map was named, "ATLANTIS," and I have no clue what that is or where I get it. Are there more maps we need loaded to keep playing LCs?
I'm hoping TheReelTodd wrote down the names of those who joined. I only remember Layer and SIN (i think?), because they were shorter names and easier to remember. There were at least 2 or 3 others that joined, which was great. I like it when there are lots of people playing lightcycles.
The main reason I don't play LC much, in general, is that every time I log into multi-player nobody is playing LC. They are doing DM or discs. *sigh*
Okay, I'm taking off for the day now. Have fun y'all! And thanks again

So, just before 2:00 Eastern Time, I rez-in on the game grid. I wanted to get a little practice in before the others showed up.
Then it was 2:00 and I was ready for some fun!
And then it was 2:10 and no one had shown. Perhaps because I was under my siggy name - maybe some people didn't recognize me (although I've been using CRF for a while now). So I changed to my TheReelTodd name and waited some more.
And then it was 2:20 and no one had shown.
So, I'm about to leave the game grid... when in popped Compucore!
It was great meeting up with you out there, Compucore! Sorry you couldn't stay longer.
Shortly after Compucore rezzed in, Layer joined us and the three of us enjoyed a few rounds. Always a a lot of high-speed fun and action when Layer's on the game grid!
And finally, Traahn rezzed in! Was awesome meeting up with you out there, Traahn! It's been a looooong time since I've met up with you on the game grid. A VERY long time! You really should hit the game grid more often. You were noticeably rusty out there for a while. Of course, once you warmed up, you started winning race after race! Well done! You just should have kept you mouth shut - like you said. You kind of jinxed youself there!
Uh oh - wife just called me for an early dinner - write more later...
** eats dinner **
Ok - I'm back... and quite stuffed! My wife's an awesome cook!
Where was I... oh - look, Traahn got his post in just seconds before mine.
Traahn Wrote:The main reason I don't play LC much, in general, is that every time I log into multi-player nobody is playing LC. They are doing DM or discs. *sigh* |
You know - I find that a lot too. But whenever I hit the game grid and there is no one else out there, I just hang out for about 10 minutes or so. Often, someone will join and we'll have some fun. Of course, a lot of times I just end up killing 10 minutes waiting for nothing too. But I LOVE the game grid (light cycles), so I try to hit it at least a few times a week! You should try more often too. Would be nice to see you out there again.
Ok, here's the full roster list while I was out there: Compucore, Layer, Traahn, SIN, Subungual, and Programfgrrrrry (who seemed to just enjoy hitting random keys on his keyboard repeatedly in the chat option).
We all had a great time out there - enjoyed several circuits and many good duels out there today!
I took grid-demon Layer down good a few times! Of course, he made me pay for that. He always does! I think I even won a circuit or two out there... I don't always pay attention to that though. I'm out there to have a good time - NOT to get the highest score. Of course, getting the highest score is fun too, but for me - it's ALL about the action and the thrill of a good take down! Win or loose - there's NOTHING like a good take down!
We lost Traahn when the custom game grid "Atlantis" loaded up. I forgot that tronfaq's server was running some custom maps. The Atlantis map is really a beautiful map too - very nice work by Raven (I think it is his map, anyway). But it's a bit too much for my old and slow computer - the frame rate wasn't very good and I had some trouble turning because of the low frame rate. But damn is it pretty!
The walls were out to get me too. I slammed head-first in to those damn walls several times today! DAMN WALL! I swear - they just JUMP out at me sometimes.
Well, it was lot of fun and I enjoyed meeting up with everyone! TRON-Sector member count = 4.
Sorry we missed you MutoidMan. I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it myself, but I told the wife that some of us would be meeting up out there today and she said she'd leave me along for a while. She actually watched while I played one

Yes, for those who were not able to see (most anyone else in the world), I was losing many matches. And then we hit a map that for whatever reason I won 3 straight on. So I mentioned to everyone something like, "Wow! I really like this map!" or "this map is my friend,' or something like that.... and then wouldn't you know it, I didn't win any more matches on that map. Totally jinxed myself...
