Weekends are kind of iffy for me, so if you want to play earlier in the day during the week we need to try for Mondays.

Well I couldn't stay away - it's funny how I've got a bunch of new & exciting games, and yet I'm always drawn back to TRON 2.0 - so I got back on and found Jademz[LSDO] hanging out on the grid all by his lonesome.

We quickly got to playing a bunch of great light cycle circuits. Not very long after we started CarnivalRyde joined in, which was very cool because I hadn't seen him in ages and I think Jademz hadn't seen him for several months either.

For the most part it was the three of us playing maybe 10 or 15 circuits straight, with the number of other cyclists waxing and waning as the night went on.

GG's fellas! As always, it was fun competing with you.

I look forward to seeing more sector members out there on the grid.

We really should try to set up an informal gathering of sector members for some grid time.

To that end, I wouldn't mind hosting if nobody else would mind. As people who have played on my server when I host can attest, I have a good connection with low ping. I've never had many complaints about lag from players here on the East Coast. I've had players from across the country and across the pond join in without much complaining about the ping (other than mine being zero ) either.

Whenever I host I always set the server to play all of the standard light cycle grids, even the ones a lot of people are apparently not too crazy about. I set the server to default speed and trail length as well. This can discussed, however.

Also, if I host I can slap a password on the server so we can keep the meet restricted to interested sector members.

Or we can just decide to meet up on one of the dedicated servers; it doesn't really matter as long as we can hang out and get in some game time.

It's... it's...

Nice and long... and FILLED with the excitement that ONLY the love of the game grid can instill in people!

Isn't it funny, how after straying away from the game grid for this new game or that, that some of the good old regulars start popping in again? I think that says a lot about the game. Sure, the game is simple and old (like 1982 old), but there's just NOTHING like the excitement of playing online MP light cycles with friends and fellow TRON fans!

For me, it's like being able to live my childhood fantasy of playing REAL light cycles, over and over. Sure, the fantasy came true more than TWO decades later than I would have preferred, but better late than never, right? Besides, this is TRON - it's ALWAYS futuristic to me!

I don't have much free time, but I hop on the light cycle game grid here and there - whenever I can squeeze out a few minutes for a circuit or two.

Lately, I've noticed some of the grid demons of the past coming back, rezzing in, and having a BLAST out there! It's good to see some of the original crew back out there again. And I always enjoy the new players out there too. I always hope they get hooked and become new regulars.

Anyway, I just LOVE the game!

It would be cool to see more TRON-Sector programs out there though. I hardly ever run in to fellow Sector members when I'm on. Perhaps it is because I tend to play early in the evening - before many of you play (and the other regulars, I'm sure). And on the weekends, I'll hop on anytime I can - early, late, whenever.

Lately, I've been digging Dayentech's extreme hyper-fast server. I really enjoy that fast speed and the lightening fast game play. I run in to myself a lot, but it's a BLAST! Now the regular speeds seem REALLY slow to me. I'm kind of addicted to speed... er, I mean the fastest speed setting in the game.

I know not everyone is a fan of the fastest setting - I did not like it when I was first learning the game. But after you play several circuits like that, you just get used to it and adjust... and REALLY enjoy it! Or at least I do.

And while I'm posting here, allow me to give a quick nod to Brina and Crash - two cyclists I seem to encounter frequently lately... and they're great fun to compete with!

Well, chime in folks - when do YOU play? What's your favorite speed setting? And what's your favorite (non-custom) grid? I know most people really enjoy the large grid with the speed-zone back-alley and the three shields in the large playing area. That's my personal favorite.
