It was great seeing you guys on the grid!
Here's a tip you may appreciate, learn to move the player using your fingertips. You will see it dance . then it sticks with you. |

It's FRIDAY!
I don't have to go to work tomorrow morning.
I don't have any unfinished creative projects to wrap up right now.
I don't have to be anywhere or do anything!
Ahhh - feels so good to have a few moments to ENJOY!

I was on the game grid for about an hour, but no TRON-Sector members showed.
Heh - y'all must be afraid of my evil moves!
Yeah - my evil moves right in to the DAMN WALLS!
Actually, wasn't too bad with the walls tonight.
Met up with ErosioN, Poeder, destroyer, Lord77, X1186.R23, =flynn= (who asked if I was LordCrash - I told him no and thanked him for the compliment ), Oliver, Tronio.exe, Moloko.exe, RaDDaD, trs-eighty [DR], and Damon Graves.
Had a great time!
I won two circuits tonight too!
But the major kick-butt cycle award for tonight must go to ErosioN. Only played a few games together, but he really dominated! And a shout to X1186.R23 - we went head to head several games. I think he bested me more often, but I took him down good a few.
Was a lot of fun!

I'll get there soon enough Tood. Just that real life stuff have been keeping me away on my vacationtime over here in order to swap out the memory from the server over to the gaming rig over here. Its just a matter of time for me to get things back together here. I spent the last 48 hours just reinstalling me things on my main machine here. and you know how microsoft is with the patches and all that with the verification thing now on their web site. To check to see if the version of your OS is valid.

I'm heading to the grid in a few minutes. I might try to install new audio drivers first. I've checked the past few nights for lightcycle matches, but hardly anyone is out there ever. They're normally doing DM or other disc games, which I'm not a huge fan of.

Well, I'd LOVE to meet up with you on the light cycle game grid some time, Traahn!
The tough part is timing. Sometimes the light cycle servers are dead for extended periods of time. Other times, one is full and no one is on another one.
I tend to just jump on the grid when I find them empty. I'll stick around and do some warm-up exercises for a good 10 minutes or so. Sometimes other folks will rez in and we can have some fun. Other times, I'm out there on a cold grid with no one else in sight.
I tend to play more on the weekends, and occasionally in the early evenings on work days. My problem is finding the time AND finding others on the game grid when I have time.
But when I'm out there with other cyclists, I ALWAYS have a blast! As simple of a game as light cycles is, I LOVE the experience so very much! It's such a great experience and addictive game!

I just got off the game grid a few minutes ago. I enjoyed a few circuits.
Met up with crashwell.exe, Brina, and punksissygirl - Brina's niece and a new regular on the light cycle game grid.
I wasn't playing under a name people would recognize as me, nor did I reveal who I am, but we all enjoyed the game and chatted while playing.
I asked if punksissygirl was new to the game grid, and Brina replied that she's been playing for about a month now. I asked if she was a new regular and Brina replied "yes - the old regulars don't play anymore".
That's really too bad, that the original group of light cycle game grid regulars - the ones I used to meet up with and speak of in my earlier posts in this thread... they're pretty much all gone now.
I still have the pleasure of meeting up with Layer from time to time - he's always a blast to compete with... and a true grid master! On occasion, I even see Raven or Vman out there - but that is kind of rare these days. I even saw HappyKat last weekend, I think - first time in a LONG time!
I know - new PC games are out and they take up people's attention and interest.
But light cycles is such a cool game - so simple, so FUN, so addictive!
I miss meeting up with the old gang. Those were the days!
To the original regulars, if you're reading this - I miss you guys!
Take a trip back to the game grid some time - get back in to it and remember the great times to be had there.
I know that even I made kind of a departure from the game grid for a while. Many things in my life were (and still are) competing for my attention. Life in the real world gets busy unfortunately.
Speaking of things competing for my attention, the wife is calling me to bed. No - it's not what you think - she's tired and wants to call it a night.
Well, I hope to meet up with more of the regulars in the future.
Good night for now.

Awww... I miss you too Todd!
Be sad no more my friend, for I have returned!
Being that I was a regular for all of the demos and for the full game for quite a while, I believe I qualify as an original regular.
I set up my new PC last night and putzed around on the grid a bit. No one was there, so I just rode around to see what the grid looks like at 1024x768 (I can of course go higher, but set it at this resolution for now) with all of the visual settings maxed out. It looks great! And the framerate is as smooth as a Playboy Playmate's tushie. Just not as round and kissable.
All that having been said, I'm going to get on tonight for some lightcycle action. Probably some time after 10 PM.
I know that late night is not usually when you play Todd, so either post here or PM me and we can arrange a time to meet.

Cool!
You know - we only got to meet up a handful of times on the game grid - back in the early days... well, early days for me. I only bought TRON 2.0 in May of 2004, so I was kind of a latecomer.
You were pretty damn good out there if memory serves. I remember you giving LordCrash a real run for his money! You took him down good too, and after a long and exciting duel, one particular time that still stands out in my mind.
And now you get to play on the game grid with ALL the awesome looking and beautiful goodies there are to see! I can play like that too... at a frame rate of about 20 and a serious death wish since I can't exactly turn fast on high-performance settings on my box!
Man - it must be pretty seeing the game grid like that AND playing effectively on it like that!
Your usual game grid time is far too late for me. I'm in bed early on weeknights because I have to get VERY early in the morning. But I hope we can meet up on the weekend some time! It would be great fun to go head to head with you on the game grid once again!

I was on last night, played into the early morning hours, had some great cometition from (I'll try to do this TheReelTodd style) Johnny, InSight, Boomer, Xcopy and others.
Man, I could not believe what a difference this new PC has made in my game. Keyboard response time is so much better. Now I can make all of those super-tight jinks to seal traps or get in close to a wall with ease.
And the game looked awesome! I had forgotten how cool the TRON Glow and all the other visual effects are.
I look forward to meeting you on the game grid again Todd.
Although...
I did encounter a competitor who make a comment that really made me wonder if it was you. Was it? "We are, after all, not God." - Cmdr. J. J. Adams "C is for cookie. No. The last time I was on the game grid was this past Saturday evening (8/24), just before I made the "I miss you guys" post.
Funny thing - when I'm playing under a name that no one recognizes as me, I get asked if I'm this guy or that, but I've never been asked if I'm Todd.
Anyway, if you're ever curious if you met up with me out there (under a different name), just ask. I'd prefer a PM, unless it's a name I openly I play under. Sometimes I just want to be low key out there.
I'm going to try to get out there this weekend, as a name you'd probably recognize. I wish I could give a solid time... but I'm never sure how much free time my weekends hold until my wife let's me in on it. Know what I mean?
I'll try and make a "meet me" post before getting on though. You (any TS member) should do the same to increase the chance ot meeting up out there.

Told you I wouldn't be on long!
Just got off the game grid. I was only on for three quick circuits. Didn't recognize any of the other players, but I had a good time! Met up with BlockNinja, Kain, Delete.u, and ZARG.
Well, perhaps these are some new regulars in the making? We sure need some regulars out there! It's disappointing when you go out there to find a cold, and lifeless game grid server with no other players on it.

Just got off the game grid - was only on for a few quick circuits, but had a blast!
Got to meet up with Layer who's always a blast! Of course, he pretty much dominated the game grid as usual with his lightening fast moves and excellent strategies. Took me down good a few times - well done, Layer! You HAVE to respect a good take down!
Along with Layer, I had the pleasure of competing with Destroyer, KLuWolF, Konard, Diabolos, and [LOH}TheSpectre.
I started out a little rough, but got to the not-totally-sucking stage after meeting up with several walls. Yep, those damn wall magnets must have been left on again!
Wish I could have stayed longer - I was just starting to get in the groove of things, but other obligations had to be attended to. The game grid is SO MUCH FUN! It was grrrreat to see ya out there Todd. It's a shame that people have to harp on scores...I go there to relax, hangout with friends, and enjoy some fast and furous friendly competition. Points to me are meaninless for LC at this point. LC is more of a meeting place for people I don't get to meet up with in my life here.

Yep - enjoyed meeting up with you out there too! I wish I could have spent a little more time.
Yeah - I agree about the points thing. I can have a totally pointless gaming experience (pun intended for comedic purposes ) and still have a GREAT time! It's just a fun game - win or loose. And it's always that much more fun when you're meeting up with enjoyable personalities. Sure, it's a lot of fun winning too, but the experience is always the best part for me. I don't need to rack up points and be the hottest cyclist with the most points - I only need to meet up with enjoyable players and have some FUN!
What I think a lot of people don't get is how much fun it is going up against players who are more skilled than myself. I would rather meet up with light cyclists that are far more skilled than I am than meet up with some moderately skilled players any day. It's a LOT more enjoyable trying to take down the best of the best!
A little tip for those who are new to LC or perhaps just not very good at it. When you go down, switch views to follow one of the better players out there and watch their tactics. You'll learn a lot just by watching if you pay attention to the moves and how they handle the tight situations.
But in general, who cares about the points? What can you do with them? It really is ALL about the experience! There's just NOTHING like kicking back and meeting up with cool folks on the game grid! It's a great way to unwind and relax.

Thanks for posting MutoidMan -- it motivated me to go on and play several fun matches. Even saw you! Awesome games! I also played lightcycles against: Bushin, Brina and C17. I think there was one more on there at one point, but I can't remember the name. Brina had been on there before, but didn't know about Tron-Sector.com. Hopefully will take a look at all the Tron stuff here some day.
