Re: Meet me on the game grid!

I just got off the game grid

Had a BLAST out there tonight!

I had the pleasure of competing with L [BASTARD], sog [osm], Ripstar13[OSM], =Matt=[OSM], GhostRider {TG}, ShivaGoddessNSG, -I- [BASTARD], NastyC [OSM], purge {FU | NE}, and uFo.

Well, that grid was just FULL of live ones tonight! What do you get when you have Layer and ShivaGoddess on the game grid at the same time?? One hell of a show! Several times, this husband and wife duo ended up going head to head with each other, as they were the last ones standing on the game grid. And several times, they put on a great show for us! Layer seemed to best ShivaGoddess in most of these show-downs, but something tells me he'll end up paying for it later

Actually, several people were tearing up the game grid tonight with excellent skill! I think Layer has earned the nickname Houdini - for his ability to escape pretty much ANY trap I leave for him (or anyone else for that matter). Man - talk about an escape artist! Great work L! GhostRider was putting on a great show too - he tore up the grid with great skill tonight! uFo - well, this guy cam in and really took us all down hard! I don't meet up with him often, but when I do - he's always a fierce competitor who takes me down with great skill! Actually, he was showing several of us the way down deresolution alley Really, everyone was playing very well tonight... except -I- Isaac seemed to not be feeling the game for while there. Actually, I thought he was playing well (better than I was anyway) but he was asking where his mojo went after taking a few bad derezzes. As for me, I wasn't doing all that great out there tonight, but I didn't suck too bad. I had a few good bastard moments out there tonight For the most part, I did a lot of time in the spectator's cam. That's cool though - there was PLENTY of action to watch out there! Like I said - EVERYONE put on a GREAT show tonight!

In not so great news, I heard talk of some more cheating on the light cycle game grid, this time in the form of macros. I'm not sure exactly what the extent was, but I heard that they were making moves that not even dIrK can execute on the grid, which is damn near impossible... except for the use of macros and other scripting tricks.

Well, I wouldn't worry about the macro cheating. It won't last long. Cheaters never last long on the game grid - no one respects a cheater. I don't get it myself - how can executing macro scripts make one feel like they've won anyway? Well, macros or not - the light cycle regulars will always kick-butt out there. The REAL bastards don't need any macro tricks to clean up on the game grid!

And speaking of the real bastards - I tip my circuitry helmet to you all! You've all made my game grid experiences a real BLAST! I always say - win or loose - there's just NOTHING like a great take down!

See you all back on the game grid soon

I do have to say..WHAT a NIGHT!....It's always fun racing with you Todd...and all the regulars.

Most of the regular's have been around since the first day of the first demo...so luckily we can handle ourselves when cheaters come along....

I feel sorry for the newer people who dont get a chance to start enjoying a great game because they get frustrated at cheaters.....as if the community isn't small enough (sigh...)

But we will be ever vigilant in our efforts to keep the LC side of the grid clean and respectable...for us and others who come after us...

Well, I don't know who "D" was the other night, but it was Halloween and that D was not exactly a grid bastard. Besides, that was just a D and not THE D There's definitely only one D who's D enough to tear up the game grid with moves like yours, dIrK And your "biggest grin in history" has been noted. In fact, I gave that particular grin a name. Yes - I call it... "Grintanamo". I know it's not normal to name facial expressions and all, but I thought the name was a fitting name.

So... you DO use macros, eh? That explains a LOT

if anyone can get him it's D..the D....no one likes a cheater, and what's worse is he's decided to add trash talk to his atributes....he actually thinks that if he dogs isaac and puts him down on the forums he'll turn all isaacs true friends against him..

one question inode...what are u...12? cause you don't act like you even entered puberty yet much less passed it...let's try to act a little more mature shall we?

as for impersonating isaac if that's what u truely plan on doing..don't bother, we all know him and can tell if it's him or not...so grow up alrite?where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I wouldn't worry too much about this guy, ShivaGoddess.

He'll use macros for a while, and it will look obvious to people. No one will take him seriously or show him respect on the game grid. And if he's low enough to try and impersonate Isaac and with malicious intent - well I don't think he'll last long out there.

All the regulars know each other, as you said. He'll just look like a bitter fool if he tries this impersonation crap. It won't fool anyone for more than a minute or two at best. Soon he'll grow bored with it and move on.

And if people want to use macros on the game grid to "enhance" their game skills... well I think that's kind of lame. Two points on that:

1) One will not gain experience and be able to be a true grid bastard if skill building is put aside for the instant gratification of high-speed, pre-programmed macro-moves (which probably won't offer very much overall benefit anyway).

2) Anyone who uses macros to out maneuver their opponent on the game grid, and tries to lie about it and say it's their "skill" and not a macro will just look like a fool in the eyes of the REAL gamers out there who work at their skills. A fool (or phony) will not be taken seriously or respected by the others.

But I will say this. If people want to use macros to play MP light cycles AND openly let others know they are doing so - at least the door of truth is open and it can be taken for what it is. People can then say, "hey - I wish you wouldn't do that" or "ok - that's cool, but I bet I still take you down" or whatever.

As for me - I'd rather not compete against a macro. If I'm bested by some pre-programmed set of turns executed by a macro, well I may as well be playing against the AI of the single-player light cycle game. And if I take down someone who's using pre-programmed or scripted moves, again - I won't feel the thrill of defeating an opponent, but more like I've just interrupted some computer commands.

That's my take on the whole using macros to win thing.

ALL GOOD THINGS...

It's been a GREAT ride!

I've thoroughly enjoyed my time on the light cycle game grid with everyone... especially all of those whom I've referred to as "the regulars".

My time on the game grid has been such a blast. So much so that I've posted about my adventures in great detail EVERY time I'm out there! I just HAD to share my experiences with everyone who cared to read about them. I had hoped that more people would join in and share their experiences as well, but that never really happened. I'm grateful that a few light cycle gamers posted a shout here and there, but I seemed to be the main "Meet me on the game grid" storyteller, promoter, stat-tracker, and commentator.

Since I first bought TRON 2.0 this past May, I've been hitting the game grid regularly and having a real BLAST out there. I still remember my FIRST time out there. Multi-player light cycles was my FIRST ever online gaming experience. I remember playing against erron.dso that first Saturday morning I hit the MP game grid! There were others there, but his name seems to have stuck in my mind from that day for some reason. It was a real rush to play against other LIVE players as opposed to the game-bots. Those first several times out there I had no clue at all what the hell "gg" and "gc" and "ty" and "brb" and "wb" and all the other abbreviations used out there meant. I even remember thinking "brb" meant "bring your beer" - . In time, I picked up on all the code words and abbreviations and learned to chat with people during the game. In fact, chatting and joking during the game became an additional level of fun as I got to know people.

Playing MP light cycles online was a lot more enjoyable than I could have ever predicted it would be. I've always loved light cycles since I was a kid and saw TRON on the big screen back in '82. Finally playing light cycles in a multi-player environment, along with really enjoyable personalities, was such a real thrill!

Getting to actually know people during the game was another unexpected thrill. As the weeks went by, I noticed would meet up with a lot of the same people out there, and they all seemed to know one other and joke with each other. These people who played regularly were a lot of fun to compete with and I began to think of them as "the regulars". Many of the regulars were around my age too, which I thought was really cool. I figured I was the only old guy (30 something) out there at first. I really grew to enjoy the company of the regulars and always looked forward to hooking up with them out on the game grid. Talk about a great bunch of people! Often there would be so much joking going on, I would crash JUST because I would get laughing so hard!

My skills improved as I racked up game grid time over the months. There was one thing that always seemed to get the best of me though... those DAMN walls! . Yes, I seemed to have a little trouble maneuvering near the walls, and built up a reputation for slamming head-first in to them. Though my skills improved greatly since the time I first hit the game grid, I never really quite achieved bastard status. I blame that on the damn walls! Seriously, I had some great skilled moments out there, and plenty of not so great or skilled moments, but I thoroughly enjoyed the excitement of the game, and the great folks I'd find myself out there competing with each time.

When I first started this thread, "Meet me on the game grid", I really only meant it to be a planning place for other TRON-Sector members to hook up and meet on the game grid. Only a handful of TRON-Sector members ever really met up with me out there, but that's ok. I met up with PLENTY of great people out there regardless of this thread and my "Meet me..." posts. Of course, the "Meet me..." thread morphed from the simple "meet me"abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

TheReelTodd - I am sorry I havn't met you on the grid lately, I am in college and homework is keeping me busy - I only get on for an hour or so on a good day.

It is enjoyable to race with or against you any day though. I hope to still occasionally run across you on our occasional forays into the grid.

Ugh!! I'm so stupid!!!! I just remembered I have a cable modem (duh) so I could be playing Tron 2.0 online with all of you. I just got the cable modem a few weeks ago, so I guess it hasn't hit home yet I've been playing Unreal Tournament 2004 and World of Warcraft online a bit (the beta 'stress' test). But since the WoW stress test is over, I can uninstall it and get 4GB back on my hard drive and install Tron 2.0 to play some MULTI-PLAYER!! It'll probably be a week or two before I get around to doing this, but I hope to soon!order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Thanks, ShivaGoddess - it was GREAT hitting the game grid with you and Layer and a few others for a while. Oh - and congratulations on your 100th post here at TRON-Sector!

I wasn't leaving the game grid "forever" though. I know the rules - "no turning back" A fitting quote from The Eagles with a TRON twist - "You can rez-out any time you want, but you can NEVER leave!" I've put to rest my long-winded Game Grid Play by Play Recap posts, but I'll probably always hit the game grid from time to time - just not as frequently as I once did. But I LOVE the game grid, and all the LC regulars!

Funny thing though - when I hit the game grid on Thanksgiving Day to say hi... I only meant to stay for a game or two. BUT it's so damn addicting, I ended up staying on for several circuits! Had a great time!

Nope - never would have guessed! It turned in to much more than just a "meet me" thread. There are some GREAT game grid adventures and funny moments documented here!

This thread has been pretty lifeless lately though I think I used to make at least 80% of the posts in here myself. When I stopped... it just kind of dried up unfortunately. Bummer.

LOTS of great memories archived here though!

Hey ShivaGoddess. I hear ya on the work thing. Life gets so busy it's really hard to stop and have any fun at times.

Well, take a few moments next time you're on the grid, and give a shout in this thread to those who you competed with. It's sad to see the "meet me" thread just wither away as it has. I keep hoping people will start telling stories or at least post a blurb about whatever game grid moment they might find amusing. Perhaps I am the only one nerdy enough to do that though

ATTENTION GAME GRID LOVERS

Are you just sitting there reading this?

Do you hit the TRON 2.0 game grid... and are NOT yet a member of TRON-Sector?

Take a moment and register. Tell us about your game grid adventures!

And if you're already a TRON-Sector member who enjoys regular visits to the game grid - take a moment next time you play and just give a shout to those you competed with. If you can recall a funny story or silly moment on the grid - throw that in too

And if you become a REGULAR on the game grid - why not post a "meet me" post? Tell everyone when you're hitting the game grid and post a follow up. You don't have to be as long winded about it as I used to be. Just post a blurb and remember that every time you do, another innocent program gets freed from the MCP's evil clutches

Can we at least start out with a little role call maybe?

If you are a TRON-Sector member and hit the game grid once a week or more - just give a quick shout to let everyone know they just might get to meet you on the game grid sometime.

Let's have it! Who hits the game grid once a week or more??
