Just got off the game grid.

I was only on for 40 minutes or so, but had some fun!

Tonight, I had the pleasure of competing with Ripstar13[CD], DayenTech, Joseph, [working]copy (who was LCing at work tonight - sweet!), Ender, The New Guy, Homertrix, and purge =ditto=.

I had my share of moments, both skilled and very unskilled. And of course the wall magnets were on so I got swept right in to some of those damn walls too

My last few games were one on one with Ripstar13[CD] We had some good matches going before I had to go. We both executed some good moves, taking turns derezzing each other.

Had a great time as always.

See you next time on the game grid!

LOL Harpo989 - I take it that's binary for "meet me on the game grid"? Forgot the link to the binary site. Cute though

Well, just got off the game grid, and of course, I had a blast!

Dayentech was full when I hit on-line MP LC. So I headed over to the other Dayentech extreme server and gnardogjay joined me. He suggested we head over to PGB server for some custom grid action, and away we went!

I LOVE those custom grids, but some of them are very difficult to play on. I don't mean difficult as in challenging - I'm talking down right hard to tell what's going on and see where I am and see others on the grid.

Don't get me wrong - these grids are absolute works of art and VERY impressive visual spectacles. I have great respect for these fine and intricate visual delights! BUT an LC grid is MOST effective when I can tell what's going on in the game, and actually find my opponents before I crash in to an obstacle that I didn't know was an obstacle because too many things blend all in together against several layers of pure TRON-like eye-candy.

"Looks cool" doesn't always equate with good gaming experience Again - I say that with respect to artists behind the more congested grids there. They are impressive 3D works, though not the greatest of gaming experiences

Well, tonight I had the pleasure of competing with: gnardogjay, ikari, The Dude, Boomer, TRS-80 [DR], purge -ditto- (once again - asking question after question after question about custom map how to's), cogman, Harpo989, User_Program, and =flynn=.

I'm not sure if you ever check the TRON-Sector forums, purge -ditto-, but if you get this message - please, PLEASE, let's keep the game talking about the game experience in general and NOT bombard people with constant "how to do this" and "how to do that" questions. I'm not picking on ya - you're a skilled LC player and fun to compete with. But I think the constant bombardment of questions is a real put-off to some and is kind of "pest-like". So please - let's keep the "how to" questions for the "custom grid" forums, and keep the game chatting - more "in the game" oriented Thanks, man!

Oh - just to be silly (or an ass - whichever you prefer) - I popped in the disc arena momentarily JUST to ask where all the light cycles were. Then popped back out. I thought it might be funny... but I'm very tired and my humor meter isn't working so well right now - so it was probably just really dumb. Oh well. Just felt like doing that for some reason

I enjoyed my time on the game grid tonight.

We'll see you next time on the light cycle game grid!

Well, I didn't have much time, so I did make a "meet me" post.

I just got off the game grid - only had time for a couple of circuits.

I hit the grid solo, but NeuroDancer soon joined me. We played a few warm-up matches, and -=TRON=- joined in. A short while later 100100110 rezzed in and then ANDRES.

Though I was only there for a short time, we had some good matches... and I think I only hit ONE wall!

I would have liked to stay longer... but I have to get ready to go to a wedding Don't like going to weddings. Oh well.

Perhaps I'll find my way back to the game grid later on if I can sneak out a little early

Well, I was just on for a short while once again. But still had a great time

While there, I had the pleasure of competing with: The Dude (who bested me several times out there - well done!), -I- Isaac [DR], =flynn= and for just a game or two - [X]copy.

Would have liked to stay longer... but chores await!

See you soon back on the game grid!

Re: Meet me on the game grid!

Just got off the game grid.

It was... interesting.

I blew up TWICE, unexpectedly, yet heard a light cycle next to me, and then saw an orange cycle emerge victorious just after derezzing. TWICE. This was not the instant blow-ups at the start - it happened in the middle of competition and looks like getting run down, by an invisible bike - you get the blow up animation and and hear the other bike.

Thought it was a glitch the first time.

The second time... I knew it was a hacker.

The same hacker who was FLYING around in his light cycle.

Heads up, programs - there is a hacker cheating on the game grid.

Tonight, he went by the name 1337--clippy. I'm sure he'll change that once people are on to him.

He somehow employs an invisibility cheat, and a flying cheat. The flying cheat is just annoying, but the invisibility cheat really catches you off guard.

You know - I play the game for fun, not to be the best. I'm not even close to being the best. I enjoy my time out there, and I enjoy the ability to go head to head with other TRON and light cycle fans. I enjoy competing in the fierce competition we have. It's a lot of fun - and can be very funny at times.

I don't mind being bested. I'm bested all the time - sometimes by those damn walls

But when someone needs a hack to win the game - that's just sad.

The really sad thing is that this guy seemed to play pretty well. I guess he just needs his little cheats to put him in the winning zone though. What a piece of crap - "1337--clippy".

Ok - aside from little-boy-hacker, I had the pleasure of competing with: Wells Fargo, Ghost, MCP, Toxic_Neon, Lazarus_5, Damon Graves, alpha-beta{DSO], V.Net v0.0.0.1, capt_capacitor, mercury.77... and a few others I think.

I enjoyed their company and competitiveness. Haven't played against many of them before.

1337--clippy - why don't you go out and make some friends and talk your little hacker talk to them? Why don't you go and hack apart another game and play with the little kiddies and hacker-wanna-bees that get off on that kind of crap? You're only the SECOND person I've met on the game grid, that I can say I was NOT impressed with at all. The first was a childish, trash-talking troll.

When you grow up and want to play the game WITHOUT cheating - let's try this again some time.

Wierd, Todd- and sad.
I'll keep an eye out for this guy, and 1337--clippy, if you're reading, everything Todd said is true for me as well, and probably for most players.
cheating isn't winning.

oh yeah, and Meet me on the good ol' (hopefully hack-free) game grid!

Hey Todd, fellow Tronites.

That is definately disheartening news about the hacker. Let me ask though, was the map that these rezes happened on LC_02S03? That's the big brown map with the 3 shields and the back alley speedzone with either a missle or turbo curse in the middle.

I ask because that map has a very strange bug where you'll all be racing, and all of a sudden everyone will just kind of derez with only one person coming out victorious. Usually this only happens once in the circuit on this map, but it's happened twice before.

There is also another map which does this(my favorite map), LC_03S03, but with much greater consequences. This is the map with the big green rectangular middle section. Well that bug on the brown map also occurs occassionally on this map as well except after it happens, the next race and all the races left in the circuit will have broken speedzones. Meaning when you get on the green, you will stay the same speed as if driving on regular grid. I'm sure you've seen this bug though before.

The only other question I have is if when you were dying or what not, was this guy in Spectator mode? Because along time ago, someone found out that you could be in spectator mode and use the God function from singleplayer and it would give you weapons. So you could hover around spectating the lc action while carrying a prankster bit, or whatever other weapon, and in actuality fire at competing lc'rs. And you could kill them. I've seen this with my own eyes. Pretty crazy huh? I'm not sure if it still works, but that was always a strange bug.

Otherwise, yes this guy's a hacker. And if I see him on the grid I will crush him. Lame-o.

Hey dIrK - I know exactly the bugs you are talking about, BUT this was definately NOT one of those glitches. I don't think it was the god mode trick either - BTW, has that been corrected?

The first time I got hit with this kid's trick was on my favorite grid - it's the one with the great big open area, 3 shilds and the back alley speed-zone you spoke of. BUT this was NOT a glitch. I thought it was at first, because I've had them before - this was very odd though.

Get this:

I'm racing along - I had a shield active, and I see a cycle go around the corner, heading away from me. All of a sudden, the sound of me driving through a jetwall happens, and I notice that my shield is gone, just before the sound of me ramming in to a jetwall happens and I derezz. I got the animation of hitting a jetwall and everything, AND could hear a light cycle right near me when this happened. I was the ONLY one to derezz at that point, no one else. As odd as it was, I figured it was a glitch.

On the next grid, the one with the giant green speed zone in the center, the same EXACT thing happened. Only this time, I remembered the cycle that I just saw heading around the corner, toward a missile on the other side of the divider from the green speed-zone. It was an orange bike, and 1337--clippy was playing by that color. A new name on the grid, and talking all his 1337-talk with pride. When he played well, he'd make odd comments like, "it must be my 1337ness..." and stuf like that. BTW - 1337 means "leet" for you non-hacker folks. It's supposed to be "hacker-talk", but it's usually just used by kids who think they're cool sh*t because they know a few hacking tricks.

Anyway, the same thing happened. The cycle heads away from me, down a location I can not keep track of him on, I head the other way and head back toward the center of the grid, opposite the trail I just left (which is between me and the speed zone). As I head back, my shield is busted to the sound of me breaking through a jetwall - but there was no jetwall there. And very quickly thereafter, I slammed in to an invisible jetwall... again, there was no jetwall there, but I got the animation of it and derezzed. As before, I could HEAR the other cycle the whole time, but there was nothing I could see. Just after this, 1337--clippy made a comment about my derezz, I don't remember what he said. But I was wondering if he was somehow lagging so badly, that the game just didn't update until I was derezzed, or if he somehow was employing a trick of some sort.

A short time later, I noticed the orange light cycle playing ABOVE the grid - like he was flying and his cycle and jetwall were about two or three cycle heights off the grid! THEN I knew what was going on, and it was no glitch that I had experienced!

I don't know if 1337--clippy thought this was a great way to show us all how smart he is or would win the admiration of the other cyclists or if he thought it was cooler than anything. What I do know is that I was NOT impressed, nor was another cyclist who quickly started commenting on how annoyed he was with 1337--clippy as well.

It was not a grid glitch - trust me. I've experienced all the grid glitches and this was not any of them. This kid hacked the game and was employing some kind of invisibility trick and flying cycle trick... Maybe that was the trick - he flew his cycle so high off the grid momentarily, that I could not see when he cut me off, first taking away my shield, then derezzing me in quick succession.

1337--clippy even admitted that he had employed some kind of trick, but swore it was only in the previous circuit. So I suppose his flying around in this circuit was just a grid bug? What a jerk.

I tried to take him out quickly in the games that followed, but only succeeded a few times - he did best me a few (without his cheats). I only played a handful of games after outing the

Whew! What a night!

I just got off the game grid, and that was some GREAT FUN!

Tonight I had the pleasure of competing with: KLuWolF, Ghost, [PGB]DarkBoomer (who was really tearing up the grid!), V.Net v0.0.0.1, Rogue Leader (who was packing in the action layer after layer - good to see you again man!), ShivaGoddess (long time no see - good to see you again too!), Omega.User, -I- Isaac [DR], J.P. v6.2, Midboys1.exe, $yntax, mercury.77, =flynn=, Odin, MCP, SUPER MAN (SOG with his glasses off ), Ikari, and for just the last couple of games TwistedEdge - who wasted no time in tearing up the game grid himself!

It was a GREAT time tonight and I really had a blast!

THAT was CLASSIC light cycle fun! Plenty of jokes flying about, great company, and PLENTY of high speed, light cycle action!

AND - no cheating this time! No one was employing cheat hacks to win - it was done with skill and in fairness tonight! THAT'S the kind of light cycle action I crave!

No one need to cheat to win the game. No one need to be all "1337ish" to be cool. Everyone was cool because they were themselves and played honestly... and down right brutal sometimes!

There were some awesome battles out there tonight! I'm proud to say that I was part of some of the good ones. Unfortunately, the damn walls would often claim me before I could either win or be bested by my competitor - DOH!

Yes - definitely some GREAT matches out there tonight though

I had a wonderful time everyone!

I hope to see you all again real soon back on (cheat-free) the game grid!
