Me; I use an Apple G4. You know, the all-in-white eMac. I went and bought white jbl speakers and sub woofers; and a white ipod all to match. Anally retentive, I know, but the real reason I use Apple? Easy. It's because using it doesn't make you feel like you're in an office. Ya dig?

Myself I use several kinds of computers over here. 2 Nextstations are one kind that I use for Unix kind of things. My netserver is another that I am using for doing server stuff, My other that I am getting up slowly but surely will have either Solaris 9 on it or I'm planning to put in there SkyOS or BEOS. My main machine is using windows enironment. I'm planning to helpo out a friend with a SGI machine once we can get together to install the OS on that of IRIX 6.5. I'm into using a wide variety of computers an not stuck on a single kind of OS or machine. If I could I would get would be from IBM. I cannot think of the particular model though it looks like a beefier machine that looks like an older version of an XT. Just larger and using RISC cpu's in there.
I'm also trying to convince a friend of mine into loaning me one of his Sun Micro Systems that he has at his place. Its an Ultra 1 from Sun a nice little machine to learn on as well using Solaris 9 I beleive that he installed on it. Just that the keyboard, mouse and monitor are not the standard ones that you pick up at the local staples or future shop stores.

Well you had asked what Kind of computers some of us use. This is what I use personally and what I would like to learn on personally. I know at one point it was only Microsoft windows or Mac OS at one point. Nowadays. You gotta learn on more things that you can swing a stick at. In this case Like myself. You need to know more than just the bare minimum systems. I don't know how the others feel about it. Again this is just my preference over here.
The more I can learn on these other systems. The better off I am in getting to use them more and more. And get better jobs in some cases.

When I'm at my mother's office at wsu, I'm stuck on this little imac G2 (I think) and it drives me INSANE! If I do anything wrong, it freezes. (It hates me, I swear.)
I have uh, few more computers at home. I've got a working C64 (in my room), two gateways, a custom built pc (mine), IBM PS/1 (probably still working, but the monitor is bust.), and ah, the corpse of a Packard Bell computer. abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion Kia: Cool. Now we're getting into the guts of it.
I have some old ZX Spectrum's - this might sound childish and offensive but do you get Speccies in the US? - in glass frames dotted around my house. Also, an Acorn and Amstrad home computer circa 1983. Retro ornaments more than anything.
However, I do still have an old Apple IIc - remember those? Me and my (very rich, or spoilt) friend were using them to play games like draughts and tic-tac-toe with other users around the world in 1984. I was a bit too young then to know any different, but to me this seemed like an infant version of the Internet. Can anyone clear this up for me? My friend was very wealthy and his dad connected us to other macs from around the world (supposedly). It's a distant memory, but I like to think we had rallied the 'net years before its time.

Hey Harpo989 Have you tried Sky OS yet?? I've been debating on trying that one out as well as Solaris. Red hat I've used here and there. And its been a good version that I have learnt from over here. when I wa taking courses way back in 2000. Booted it from floppy in order to get to it. But was a nice experience. When I was using windows 2000 on the same machine.

Yeah Take a look into it. I think I may have posted a link somewhere else in one of the other messages sections. THere is a link where you can actually just go to a web pages that has SKyOS and something like 29 other free OS's available with their respective web sites.

I came up on DOS and Windows, so I tend to stay in that line. I used Macs for a while when I worked at Activision, but like most users, you like what you grew into. I dislike Macs intensely, I don't consider them easy to use and I can't imagine why others like them, but then, they say that about PCs. It's all in what you use right?
I use a Dell 8200 P4 and a Dell Axim Pocket PC. I also have a Dell Inspiron 8600 Notebook I drag everywhere for working on my projects. All my machines have XP Pro installed.
I still have my original Commodore PC III XT machine, my old 386-33 and a couple of parted out 486 and P2 systems in the garage.

HP Pavillion 521n. AMD 1.4 256 RAM XP home bla bla bla...
It aint a bad little machine, only had to upgrade the graphics card so far. But more memory is needed.
Basicly bought it from best buy because it seemed good. But, knowing what I know now, I could have gotten a much better machine for the $...
I also have an old Acer P133 Win95 I use for the old games, like harpo mentioned. Dark Forces is still cool.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

I too cut my teeth on DOS/Windows. Right now I'm running a homebrew rig P4-2.0GH using WindozeXP. I had to sell my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro to make bills a while ago. You really don't know what you're missing until it's gone, believe me.

I started on a PC and had a few for years. When the novelty of troubleshooting wore off I decided to take a friend's advice and switch to a Mac and see if there was any difference. I had to learn a new OS but once I got through that (about 2 weeks) I didn't go back to working on a PC full time.
So, I may be one of the rare people who switched from the PC to the Mac. If it works, I use it, and it just seems that when it comes to reliability Apple has won me over. Also, IMO, the Mac GUI is much more pleasant to look at and work with, especially OSX.
