TRON on TV?

on Thursday, February, 19, 2004 3:57 PM
I wish I could imitate the guy from the McLauglin group here. This question is intended to stir up conversation.

Does TRON have to be a theatrical movie? Can it be a TV movie and possible series pilot?

Would you as a fan of TRON have to see it on the big screen?

A movie at this point would a lot of backstory to jump it into the current timeframe. 20 years is a lot of ground to cover. It also has to set up a next movie.

What if the original movie was viewed as Part One of a Pilot, and a second smaller movie just setting up where the world is now was added.

The idea in my head is that you can do something ala Buffy The Vampire Slayer where you build a cast, set up the overarching plot to run through the series and steer the course from there.

You have a great eternal bad guy, MCP, and you can have the villain of the week in the form of hackers, viruses, hardware malfunctions, invasions, etc.

Could TRON go that way in your minds? I want to know what you are thinking! abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Dave, oh yes TRON could easily go into the realms of the TV world. If it can go into comics it can just as easily go into TV as an on-going series or even as a set of TV movies that, as you said, could act as a backstory and add more depth to the electronic world.

How many ideas are there in my head for something like this? To many to mention where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

It could be made into a TV series, but would require alot of braintime (to write all them scripts.) I think it would be a good idea though. Would encourage more sequels too.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

*rezzes in*

hmm... how about a theatrical movie sequel that helps explain the world as it is now, then a TV series that comes off of that?
but my question would be, what time would we place it in?
immidietly after Tron? after Tron 2.0? a short time after Tron? (one year? two?) or maybe even in the future? (although I personally wouldn't like that, I had to suggest it.) my first thought would be to set a TV series right after Tron, but, although programs may not age (or do they?) actors certantly do. how could one explain how Tron looks without placing the series in normal times?

these are just my thoughts for right now. although, unless they used some sort of thechnology to make the 'glow' cheaper, it would probably have to be cgi or even traditional animation. (which would help in the age department, too.)

on last thought. if the series WAS made, to fix some of the problems like age and/or voice, they might hire completely different actors. I wouldn't want them to, but TV producers might.

this is all assuming thy don't even just depart from the established story altogether and come up with all thier own charachters.

well... just my rambling thougts!

Well if we all have our own personal preferences and all that. Mine of course would be a kind of mini series on the big screen. (For me that is anyways) I've seen the original tron way back in 82 when it first was shown on the big screen. But what I can say and from my point of view. It would be nice maybe to see two other stemming from the first one. Like you said Davetron 20 years is a lot to cover since 1982 till now in 2004. But to keep in with what tron has become as a cult film

What I would like to see maybe is a jump of probably 10 years ahead from the first movie to the second. Showing and dealing with the technologies of 1992 compared with 1982. And them going ahead another 12-13 years to the present day. Give or take a year of when that comes out onto the big screen. Put thats just my way of thinking of it. Cause its easy to get lost into all these little widgets and wazoos the come out for computers and the what nots. ANd I have done some really short films when I was in college. so its probably coming from that reasoning. Cause I had to make a lot of changes for the two 10 minute films in 1995.) That it is easy to get side track into them. That besing said for me anyways. It would be interesting to see at least three parts film for tron.

I don't know if anyone else remembers Automan tv series. Which wa basically a cloned up version of Tron. Which didn't do too well when it came out. I don't remember if it lasted 1 season or less when it was made way back when.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

I think the time is perfect for a TRON tv series. With 2.0 renewing alot of interest, and effects like used in the movie could be done better with less effort / cash.

Personally, I think it would be a great idea.

In my opinion it's a romantic notion, but nothing more. It would be difficult to pitch; the audience would be highly select (probably just us); a sequel to the original would be more plausible. But a TV series to follow? Why not? There's more pilots in the tv world than WW2 had.

I think Tron would make a great TV series, but I agree with DaveTron that it would have to have an extremely strong story arch and excellent writing, like Buffy, in order to succeed. It would get the attention of all the SciFi buffs out there, not just use diehard tron fans. Especially if it was well written.

LOVE the idea, DaveTron! If it comes off can you slip my headshot to the casting director? where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

TRON on tv would be cool. I would end up buying the DVD no matter where 2.0 would be. Since Disney owns ABC, that would be the most logical place to put a TRON-based TV movie/miniserises/series, right?where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Wait.

It's not actually happening, just want to be clear on that. I was just posing an idea.

Things appear to be going in a "when will it come out" direction. I just want to be clear I am fantasizing and not speaking for Disney or ABC.

Having said that, if they give me 10 million bucks I'll put together a pilot for them for TRON! Yeah, that'll happen.
