You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

That is the first time that I can recall ever using that word here.

Whups, sorry. Was just trying to inject a little levity here.

Yes... I've been brought up to date. I mentioned this at dinner tonight in front of the wife and kids. Seems I was the only one that was in the dark. They said there had been ads for it all over the TV. D'oh...

I great tie in from TRON to The Black Hole would be if VINcent and crew went through the black hole, and ended up in the electronic world.

Ya know, I was pretty sure you would get the reference but your response seemed to indicate otherwise; since I wasn't sure I thought I'd better apologize and explain before things escalated to DEFCON 1.

Yea but there's a difference between releaseing a digitally cleaned up version of Tron (Such as the 20th Anniversary) and essentially modifying a scene so where, say, the Red Solder took a swing at Flynn first before Flynn decked him and turned red, then releasing that as the only version you can have.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Dave, I've seen and read a few interviews and quotes of Lucas basically saying the OT ain't gonna happen. IMHO the only way I think the OT will hit DVD is when he passes away and the Lucas estate transfers over to another person who sees this as a money maker.

Lucas isn't doing the OT for artistic reasons.

Curtishart,

I think he will eventually see the light. I would think it would appeal to the artist in him to eventually have a version that show how it went from A (OV) to B (SE) to C (New scenes).

I have a real problem with him deciding that I could see it in the theatres, but never again. I hope he wakes up.

Right on. Remastering for higher fidelity picture and sound is completely different from changing what happens in a scene.

TheReelTodd, DAVETron and you other fellas lucky enough to have seen Star Wars in the theater back in 1977:

I vividly remember seeing this film when I was 6 back in '77 in a theater in NYC.

I'm positive that at the end when Princess Leia is awarding medals to our heroes, that she gave one to Chewbacca! However, in every cut I've seen since, she only gives medals to Luke and Han. I'm pretty sure that she tries to put the medal on Chewie but she can't reach that high, so either he bends over or she just hands it to him. Do any of you guys remember this?

BTW, I also remember having seen Luke talking to Biggs on Tatooine in the theater.

I also saw the only broadcast of the Stars Wars Holiday Special! Anybody else see that one?

I remember him mentioning Biggs, but not seeing Biggs.

As for the Chewie medal, my recollection is that I was always angry that he didn't get one too. Having said that, your comment did spark a memory of what you describe, but it's been a long long time!

I, too was lucky to see SW in 77 before it was rereleased in 78 as Star Wars: Episode IV

Nope, never did. However Marvel had an issue of Star Wars where Lea awarded Chewie a medal later (Apparently a lot fo fans wrote in to ask about this to Lucas also)

BTW, I also remember having seen Luke talking to Biggs on Tatooine in the theater.

Nope, never happened. This has been addressed MANY times in various SW threads and essentially a FAQ sums it up by saying (And I'm paraphrasing...): The novels, picture books, poster books, etc had so many references and images from the Biggs/Luke scene on Tatooine that many fans, over time had those images evolve into actual scenes in the movie when it was just the fans overly-active imagination.

Yea, there's an instance where I could swear that had that scene inserted as well.

I also saw the only broadcast of the Stars Wars Holiday Special! Anybody else see that one?

CBS in November 1977. The only cool part was the cartoon w/Boba Fett. Jefferson Starship? Puh-leeze.

I'm pretty sure both those scenes were shown in the theater.

I need to verify this.

There was several scenes between Biggs and Luke - and a young Koo Stark. However, a producer told Lucas those scenes made the movie look like American Graffiti in space. So he cut them. You can see them on the "Behind The Magic" CD-ROM.

Chewie never did receive a medal on Star Wars. But he did receive one during an MTV show where Carrie Fisher got to present Peter Mayhew (as Chewie) with a gong on the show.

I never did see Star Wars back in '77. Although I did see as a double bill with Empire Strikes Back in '81. Sensory overload I can tell you.

The Holiday Special is great for fans who like to see their hero's outwith the OT. Saying that, it's one of the most embarrassing, painful, and naive things ever put onto film. Lucas once said: "If I had the time I'd track down ever print and have them destroyed." Indeed, you can probably pick one up on ebay for next-to-nothing.

Or, check it out at starwarz.com

SEE!!! Mark Hamill wearing more makeup than a French prostitute!

SEE!!! Harvey Korman as a Julia Child clone with more appendages than should be allowed!

SEE!!! Wookiee pr0n!

SEE!!! the drummer from Jefferson Starship dressed up like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat!

SEE!!! Art Carney forgetting his lines!

SEE!!! Dark Helmet in his first starring role!

SEE!!! Bea Arthur as the barkeep at the Mos Eisley Cantina!

SEE!!! Carrie Fisher in her more "medicated" days!

Easily located as a 2-part file on Kazaa in..."relatively watchable" quality.

I have purposly avoided any contact with the Star Wars X-mas special. I can only remember very little about it (I was young when it was on), and don't want to have my memory of it spoiled!

In fact, the only thing that stands out in my mind is houses (wookie?) way up in the trees....
