I wanted to make sure I popped in here to the Sector to indicate that, yes, I'm still around.

I wish I had a better story to tell about my name but, truth is, my given name is Jason. Naturally, friends sometimes shorten it to "Jas" which I actually kinda like.

I figured, spelling it "Jayce" seemed more Tron-like. So I used that.

A little added back-story is, when I was in my teen years (if memory serves correctly), I tried to develop a superhero character for Halloween. I did a few costume drawings (now long gone?). It seemed kinda DC comics / Legion of the SuperHeroes. Perhaps fortunately, I never made that costume. Anyway, the character's name was "Sir Jayce".

Don't get me wrong, though. I know I'm no royalty. Here in the Sector or anywhere else!

"Sub-Odeon" has been my handle since my first serious BBS days, back when dial-up at 2400 baud was considered "high speed" and 14400 was something only ultra, high-end BBS geeks had; or could afford. I frequented the Citadel-type BBS's based in Salt Lake City, and wanted to try and come up with something a tad original and off the wall.

SUB: got it from watching "The Enterprise Incident" wherein the Romulans have a rank roughly equivalent to a Lieutenant Commander, called a Subcommander. I thought, hey, Sub, sub, sub, what can I add to sub that would be cool?

ODEON: at that same time I was heavily into Kevin Siembieda's Robotech RPG, and in the game manual for Robotech II there is a mechanized drone foe called an Odeon, which looks large and menacing, and I thought, "Hey, Sub... Odeon! Sub, Odeon. Sub-Odeon. I like it!"

And thus, the proverbial chocolate to the proverbial peanut butter.

All sounds rather silly now. When I got older I realized that "Sub-Odeon" directly translates as "under theater" which has a certain kind of cleverness to it.

Anyway, it's the name I have spread across the Internet, and it's what I'll probably die with.

A Tron fan and AND a Robotech fan? That makes you one cool program in my book!

I'm a fan of Robotech also. Though I don't like the way Harmony Gold is handling the new sequel, The Shadow Chronicles. They are bungling its release something fierce. It should have been out a year ago, already. But it won't come out until next year.

Because of their poor handling, I've almost completely lost interest in it.
