Greetings programs -
I'm trying to find out if anybody knows the name of a song playing in the background of Flynn's Arcade in the original TRON, when Flynn, Alan and Lora are first discussing how to break into Encom. It's not the "1990's theme" nor is it "Only Solutions", and the song is not listed in the end credits. I'd dearly love o findout what song this is, if anybody can help. It's probably just an extra instrumental that Journey recorded for the movie. If I find out, I'll let you guys know.

Sounds like it was an "intro" to Only Solutions. But was probably edited down for the soundtrack.
It sounds like Journey to me, the drums, keys and that really sounds like Neal's guitar tone to me. The prelude really sets up Only Solutions. It really transitions when Alan asks why Flynn wants to break into the system.
I'm going with Journey, especially since there is no vocals present until Only Solutions begins.

Wow, I had always assumed it was Only Solutions, but it looks like I'm wrong.
How did you get the dialog removed from the audio track?

I extracted that chapter with MacTheRipper, choosing just the audio track to leave me with an AC3 file with the audio from that chapter. Then I opened that file with Audacity, which separated the 5.1 audio into 6 audio tracks. Then it was a simple case of deleting the left, right, centre and LFE channels leaving the surround channels with the music on.

Yep. It's Journey, all right. Did you know they were the first rock band to have their own video game as well? 1982, Midway(Bally). Funny thing about that game...originally there had been a camera installed so that the player's face would be on the animated body, but after reports of other body parts than the face were getting photographed, the camera was taken out and the faces replaces with digitized faces of the Journey band members. Hey,
Does anyone know if there are anymore developments on this thread? I'm getting a Seeburg Jukebox just like the one in Tron legacy and this is one tune I'd love to have in it.
The link to the track where the dialogue is removed no longer works, is it possible to set up the link to work please?
As mentioned in a previous post, it's probably just a little extra bit performed by Journey but no one seems to know for sure.
