TRON is a classic Disney film.

It always irks me when I'm reading a post from someone and they claim that TRON is not a "classic Disney film".. If TRON isn't a Disney classic, then what is? During my travels on the web I have met posts by people who argue that TRON is "not a classic Disney film".

Now, if..
The Rocketeer is a Disney classic,
The Absent Minded Professor is a Disney classic,
and The Computer wore Tennis Shoes is a Disney classic,
then why on earth would you not consider TRON a Disney classic?

What do you guys think makes a "classic Disney film"?where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I think of classic Disney films as animated fairytales, I guess. I never thought of the other stuff as being. And it doesnt seem Disney does either; they don't re-release the other stuff every few years, kids are sold on "Disney princesses" not "Disney live-action characters," etc.

Frankly, I consider Tron outside of the category of smarmy animated singing animals and women who need to be saved by dudes they've never met (purely on virtue of their looks), and I'm okay with that.

It's a classic film overall!

Even on the box it says the original Disney Classic...

But it's not an animated classic....

It's definitely a classic film, but when I think "Disney film," Tron is not even remotely the first thing that comes to mind.

(And as the franchise has gone on, I've been surprised by how dark Disney's allowed it to get. It's not necessarily that dark, per se, but for a Disney film-- wow. Especially when you start getting into the material beyond T:L, like T:B and stuff. Also, some of the suggestive stuff surprised the hell out of me-- the Armory scene? WHOA. I believe George Takei would say, "Oh myyyyy."

Then again,I was also rather surprised by the scene in T82 with the discussion between Alan/Lora/Flynn-- Flynn takes his shirt off for no reason? And a frank discussion where it's made very clear that Lora has lived with both these guys? Holy crap, Disney.)abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Yeah that was crazy for 1982!
he takes off his shirt...
and then they make it clear she made love to both of them...

and yeah Disney.. lol...

The Armory Scene is pretty crazy...
I did like when Gem came out though..

Oh, c'mon, Kat. I've cracked jokes about that whole situation on TV Tropes and it's practically a running gag on the Kink Meme. Flynn, I can see as a case of Bi the Way and crazy enough to try anything twice. In that light, you could read the whole thing as hitting on them both.

The entry I put on TV Tropes entry "Threesome Subtext":

TRON has to set a minor record, despite being a Disney flick. First, Alan and Lora show up at Flynn's arcade. Flynn acts a little overly familiar to them both (even if Lora's his ex), snarking that "nothing classes up the joint like a clean-cut young couple." Once they're upstairs, he casually changes his shirt in front of them, remarks Lora isn't one for small talk, and asks Alan if she still leaves clothing on the floor. The end of the scene is Lora brandishing a set of car keys and asking "Shall we dance?".

Once Flynn's in cyberspace, there's buckets of Ho Yay when he allies himself with Ram and Tron. The scene at the Power Pool? Three pretty men in skintight, neon-lit spandex gasping and giggling over how good power from a "pure source" is.

And after Ram dies and Flynn's found Tron and Yori? Well, see the arcade scene above. Tron and Yori are doppelgangers of Alan and Lora and in an established relationship already. Doesn't slow down any of the Ho Yay from earlier, nor does it stop Flynn from giving Yori a very passionate Last Kiss before making what he believes to be a Heroic Sacrifice to save them all.

It's an entire universe in there, one we created, but it's beyond us now. Really. It's outgrown us. You know, every time you shut off your computer...do you know what you're doing? Have you ever reformatted a hard drive? Deleted old software? Destroyed an entire universe?"

Oh, don't get me wrong, it's joke-worthy and doesn't bother ME any (hell, I took my MOM into a, ahem, "leather" store today [she declined my offer to explain anything she found, uh, curious]), but it's far more risque than I'm used to from Disney, whose MO usually runs to a chaste kiss and a quick cut to "happily ever after." I mean, they can't even handle the original events of a Grimm fairy tale, so seeing them come out with a highly-suggestive "let's have a bunch of hot chicks get Garrett Hedlund nearly-naked" scene is... a bit eye-widening, to say the least.
