So last night I went to see The Avengers in IMAX 3D. (got the tickets online and I could pick the seats so no trouble getting in!)
Anyway after 2 hours and 30 minutes of watching it, and getting out of the theater at 1 A.M.  , I would say its most definitely worth going to!
Its funny (some moments the entire audience was laughing like you would expect at a comedy), has a good plot, the characters all work great together, and the action was not overdone. But still I would say its a great action movie, but wasn't constantly happening. Only a lot near the end and a bit spread throughout. So not overdone like some movies are.
So I would recommend this movie to anyone, IMAX or not. And make sure you stay right to the very, very end of the credits. The clips are worth seeing!

It's structured like most of the other Marvel Hero films: a bit of action near the beginning, then the plot expanding, all the way until the final battle or whatnot.
Not to say that's bad. I thoroughly enjoyed it too. Looks to me like The Avengers 2 will be underway.
I hope they include Hank Pym (Antman) and Wasp next time!

Agreed.
I had some friends who were convinced these characters were "Too Nerdy" to make an appearance . . . jerks.
Was a really fun watch overall. I've always been under the impression a team movie would work better because you have more things you can do, as opposed to just focusing on one hero for 2 hours.

Its an awesome movie, and with making $1,036,173,290 (from wiki) so far world wide I have no doubt that we will see a second movie. I hear Antman is already in the works final drafts of the scripts are done but no green lighting yet but there is work underway but its probably a 2014 slot anyway as the current lineup that has been giving the go ahead is Ironman 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2.
And as an Ironman fan I love the MkVII Armour

Mouse Over To Read:If you read the comics this was a common feature of the older models after it became too large for the briefcase, one of the amours before the extremis reboot used to remain in orbit above his GPS to be called down at will. Later on Extremis was easy to carry around again. Which I hear is the plot for Iron Man 3

look, im as book nerd as anyone. the movie was fantastic. Us comic book gurus have become to high and mighty, sitting on our thrown of paper backs, judging every marvel/dc film released. Its time to stop, and appreciate them for what they are worth.

Yeah, know what you mean! Too many people want the movies the way they want them and don't look at it as its the movie that was made so like it for what it is, not what it could be.

i know this is really off topic but its flooding Hawkeye figures here in manila in retail stores. I dont know if some of you guys want some i could hook you up and you could avoid bidding wars on these things. and the more you get the better it is for the price of shipping. How long do you think it will be before they make a Lego version of this? 
The Lego games have always been very popular, have so far included Star Wars, Indianna Jones, Harry Potter & Batman.
The latest one features Batman & Robin joining up with Superman and the Flash to fight a range of bad guys (including the Joker and Lex Luthor) in Gotham.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing with the Avengers one day.
