OK so on my old computers before they crashed from being to old..
I has Windows XP.
Well I wish I had a system like that again..
I bought a new PC and it came with windows 7 home Premium..
I also installed Linux for going on the net and doing work...
Well the old XP windows movie maker..
let you just drag and drop animated Gifs in the program..
then you could just drag them out and there you go!!
Well I was wondering if there is a way to turn a Gif..
into a video file..and extend as long as I need it..
with a Linux program! Any help would be great programs!!

Well, there's generally an open-source alternative to everything.
I would Google either "open-source video editor" and you might need to specify "Linux" as well, or "alternatives to Windows Movie Maker" or something. Your distro definitely doesn't come bundled with something like that?

Well I got Movie Maker for Windows 7
but it doesn't let me convert animated Gifs
to video files..
But I do have video programs..
i can get for free on Linux..
just not sure which one can convert gif to video file...
but one of my buddies has the older movie maker.
so i can convert my gifs over there..

Wow, just tried that and you're right.
Windows Live Movie Maker is pretty bad. Nowhere near as good as the Vista one. I know the XP one can also do what you're wanting it to do, and you can download it from Microsoft's site:

You'll want Windows Movie Maker 2.6 (it's the only one you can dl other than the terrible Live one).
Optimally, you'd want version 6.0, but the only way to get it is to have a fresh Vista install.

I've found this works:
$ mplayer -vo jpeg animated.gif
$ ffmpeg -r 25 -i %08d.jpg -y -an animated.avi
Both mplayer and ffmpeg have loads of options. Particularly you may want to vary -r (framerate) on ffmpeg to get best results.

In that post I said that you can download the XP version of Movie Maker onto Windows 7 via that link.
Vista's version of it (6.0) is the best one, but it's only available with Vista.
