On this day in 1982 -- the original TRON movie made its theatrical debut… forever making an indelible imprint on sci-fi cinematic history with its incredible artistry, designs, and visual effects. Pop culture delved into the World of TRON then, and never left -- with TRON's glow permeating everything from movies to television, and music to fashion -- generation after generation. Recently in 2010, TRON's long awaited sequel -- TRON: LEGACY -- unleashed an incredible new visceral experience and passage into this realm for audiences to experience via its ground breaking visual effects and imaginings.
The World of TRON is constantly growing and evolving -- and the next big entertainment entry into this saga is appropriately entitled TRON: UPRISING -- which is a highly stylized animated feature film and television series that will debut on Disney X D's TV channel in Spring 2012 -- and will showcase stories that occur between the original TRON movie and the LEGACY sequel. A third TRON live-action movie is also currently being written that picks up where LEGACY left off… rest assured, this "Journey" (TRON buffs will get it) is just beginning...
So on this anniversary, "rez up" the original TRON movie in your video format of choice: whether it be a Blu-Ray or DVD… or go "old school style" with a Laserdisc, CED Disc, VHS or Beta videocassette -- then kick back and enjoy the movie that started it all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
My youngest daughter and I had a TRON night last night. We watched Tron and Tron: Legacy 3D, here at the house. What a treat. Both movies are awesome, but Tron: Legacy is AMAZING. It gets better everytime I see it. After watching the new Transformers, I really have a greater appreciation for Tron: Legacy.

Saw Transformers 3 today. Left early. It was boring and incomprehensible. The 3-D made me nauseous, firtst for a 3-D film. Guess I'm over that technology. Only going to 2-D films from now on.
T:L however, I can watch over and over. AND see something new each time.
Forget it, Mr High and Mighty Master Control. You aren't making me talk.

Hooray!
Wow, the big 3-0 next year for it (and me too.... but don't worry, Tron: my coworker who just turned 30 has assured me that we do NOT have to get respectable once we hit that age).
Amazing it's been that long. I sort of wish they'd make another sequel in another 30 years... just so we can all look back and say "haha, look at all that old-school technology. They de-aged Jeff Bridges and did the film in 3-D,how dorky is that?? I celebrated by watching Tron on Blu-ray and trying not to mention the anniversary too much ... July 9th 1982 is my wife's birthday!
