This town is full of live ones!

So what exactly where the inoperative data pushers in Tron?
Tron said to Yori.. who are these weirdos?

And then Flynn said.. This town is full of live ones.
The one with the hoods and spooky faces kind of creeped me out.

Has anyone talked about these before?
Also I really like the colorful city where these programs dwell!

I wanna party there... InkyBlinkySuewhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Ahhh. . .what an interesting scene to discuss. After much thinking, and re-watching (LOL!!!!) of that scene, here's what I think we saw:

Data Pushers - the ENCOM 511 equivalent of drug dealers; they basically go around plying their wares, maybe energy drugs, to keep Programs high and oblivious to what is really going down with Sark and the MCP; Heck, maybe they're even double agents for Sark and his boys. Or, maybe, they could just be junkies who wander the "streets" of the System looking for that cave that Tron, Ram, and Flynn rode their lightcycles up to. Hmmmm. . . . . .

The other Programs, i.e., the Light-bulb shaped program, and the distorted Chewbacca-looking type of program: I'm thinking that these may be refugee programs from other sectors of the system that are on the run from Sark and the MCP.

The Female Program with the crazy hair and the Program standing next to her: I don't mean to offend anyone, but I think that Female Program with the crazy hair was the ENCOM 511 equivalent of a Lady of the Night, if you will, and the Masked Program standing next to her, was her Pimp; I could be wrong; that look that she gives Flynn as he walks by and the look Flynn gives her in return is kinda comical, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Programs with the Purple Hoods - I think that they may be the equivalent of either Religious Pilgrims (or High Priests) who may be in hiding from Sark and the MCP, thus why they wear hooded robes. Their dialogue, to me, speaks to something of that effect, possibly. I'll have to watch that scene again.

If anybody gets a chance to interview Steven Lisberger, I hope they ask him about this specific thing, because it's a really fun thing about the first TRON universe, and it was also interesting to see an updated version of this in TRON: LEGACY, especially the Homeless Program (how does one become homeless in the Grid?? Maybe Clu 2 took away their basic energy level and has rationed their energy levels, making it hard for them to survive), and the other programs walking the streets outside the EOL Club.

Fighting for TRON, The USERS, Both Flynns, Independents, and the mighty ISOs since '82.

In the Tron novelization, a few types of the 'live ones' are identified. This is the direct quote from chapter ten:

The City had changed since Tron had last been there. Once a place as bright as the heart of a star, a place of activity and industry, center of the Factory Domain, it was now dimly lit except for the Input/Output Tower. Its once vigerous programs now appeared to be in a state of shock, or somnambulance. The MCP was obviously doling out its hoarded power very sparingly. The entire Domain was at a low state of resolution, much of it dark and two-dimensional-looking.

Tron steered for the Factory Complex, which lay near the City's center. There, he knew, some minimal level of activity would still exist. And there, too, he hoped to find the one who was most important to him.

When he'd neared the Factory Complex, he halted the light-cycle and permitted it to derezz. Discarding the useless handlebars, he took in his surroundings grimly, incensed at the cruelty and waste he saw. He trotted from the alleyway where he'd stopped, out onto a broad thoroughfare. Programs of all sorts walked there, many of them strangly shaped because of thei functions.

There was a Warrior of a type not known to Tron. He had an energy lance cradled in the crook of his left arm; his right arm and part of his helmet had been blown away, leaving only long, trailing streamers of glowing filaments. A little light-exchange monitor, outmoded and enclosed in his glassy bulb, passed by. Tron had to step around a segmented connectoid that, crawling along like a huge, blind worm, nearly bumped into him. He recognized cryptarthemetic priests by their circuited cassocks. But there was little animation to anyone, and no enthusiasm.

{A very big thanks to FlynnOne for the pic! And to Wulfeous for sharpening the details!*huggles both*}
{Because people always seem to guess wrong, I'm saying it here: I'm female!!! And my name is Spark!!!}

Heh. Those aren't the live ones at all. Flynn was talking about the sexy females.

RenegadeProgram,...think you described it pretty accurately.
And that viewpoint seems similar to Orwell's 1984, i.e. the 'Soma' which keeps everyone subdued and placid/unaware of what's really happening in the system.

About the scene in 'Legacy', where Sam encounters the homeless basic and trades the lightcycle,...
...the first time I watched it, wasn't quite sure what was going on there. Maybe that's because so much action was happening so fast in the film, all the special effects, etc, so it seemed almost overwhelming to the eye... (or maybe I'm just slow sometimes, LOL)... but, the first time I saw the film, at first I wasn't sure if it was a renegade, a monk or mystic, a transient, or what. Then when Clu ended up doing the tracer on Flynn's location from the lightcycle, I thought maybe the transient program was an operative for Clu who'd been simply posing as a transient. But they didn't really make that clear. It would have made for an interesting sub-storyline if they had shown more of the underworld of Tron City, the street life, and how renegade programs and those exiled were forced to live under Clu's reign.

My guess is that they just caught him. We know they were looking for the cycle, but that guy didn't. Plus he probably wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, especially if he was tripped out on something. He may not have known whose cycle it was, or if he did, didn't care it was just something he could sell. So he may not have been attempting evasion and they probably spotted him and picked him up pretty quick.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I always wondered about that too. My mom had the funniest reaction to it, she was like "Hobos in the Grid?" LoL

One of my fave characters in that scene is what they called "shower curtain lady" -- the lady walking around with all the strings of crystals flowing down around her.

End of Line.
