My mom is moving and changing her ISP, so we've decided she needs to ditch the ISP-based email.
I personally use Fastmail, but I started using them when they had the option to pay $15 once and you had an account for life...now I see that besides their crappy free ad-riddled option (which i'll pass on), you now have to pay monthly (it's not much, but still a pain in the arse to have to keep track of).
What else is good for free or one-time-fee email, preferably with IMAP capability so I can link it into her Mac mail program rather than her having to use webmail (I'd rather do IMAP than POP)? I thought of putting her on gmail, but everything Google-related is getting so fat and bloated these days...Google is linked to everything and starting to get Facebook-like in overreaching their bounds, imo (I started getting pissy at them when they wanted me to put in my PHONE NUMBER so they could verify my Youtube account. Uh, no, I don't think so, and there's no reason my Youtube account should be attached to my Google account so anybody who takes exception to something I post on Youtube can come harass me at my blog. No way in hell).
What else? I'm not sure I want to have her use Yahoo. I don't know what's considered "good" these days.
Thanks, everyone.
What do you want? I'm busy.
Program, please!

Just use a proxy server to post on youtube..
they won't know who you really are.
or be able to harrass you.
But yes google facebook,
and all these sites are overreaching their bounds.
And yeah I know not to use Gmail
since they save a copy of every e mail sent through their system.
Yahoo is ok..
but it's better to get some indie e mail..
with thunderbird on your pc.

No, Youtube (well, the associated "Google" account) asks for a phone number now so they can "call" to verify the account. Wasn't having none of that shit. I tried to make a new account using my shit throwaway email account and that's what I came up against.
I don't know if clicking on someone's Youtube profile actually links you to their Google account and every other thing they do with it or not... don't want to find out the hard way.
She has a Mac, not a PC, and I think I'm just going to keep her on the Mac mail program rather than putting her over to Thunderbird. It seems to work okay. (When i got her new machine I wasn't about to put her back on Windows, and trying to get her to figure out Linux would be a nightmare. Her last machine had a basic version of Linux before it died, and every time something went screwy on that thing [since it was like 11 years old] she was all "Linux is messing up my computer! I hate it! I want Windows back!" Uh, no, your computer is messed up because in computer years it's like a granny?)
Last I knew, Yahoo wouldn't let you export email unless you got a paid account (not doing that) so I'm passing on them.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill What do you want? I'm busy.

Yahoo and Gmail are pretty good.
EDIT: Just saw your post above. Gmail never asked me for a phone number when I signed up, and I never knew that Yahoo had a paid service, either.
Also, youtube is owned by google, so they try to do all of this "link your account" crap to try and... I don't even know.
It's particularly annoying if your college email uses gmail and you keep getting locked out of your youtube account because you're signed into a college email account or something.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

I am definitely no expert on the subject as I have had TWC like forever and you have to pay for it.
Seems like I heard that even AOL now has a free email platform; not sure of the quality though and it might be POP. Everything I have ever used has been POP.
I hate it that fricken google and youtube are linked now. My Youtube account is all messed up now LoL
End of Line.

I don't know why this is exactly, but for some reason I have always felt far more comfortable with Google than I do with other current mainstream service providers.

Me too, until they started all this Big Brother bullshit. It's why I'm about to get rid of Facebook too (trying to decide if I want to delete my account, or just all my info and still use it to see what friends are doing since I connect there with a lot of people that I don't otherwise). I use social media so *I* can decide how social I'm going to be and who I'm going to be social with, not so the media can decide it for me as if I'm a 6-year-old at a birthday party that needs to be prodded to talk to the other kiddies. I grew up so I wouldn't have to deal with someone else making all my decisions for me as if I can't do so for myself.
And if I want to stay relatively anonymous online so I don't get Dooced or have family members that don't need to be up in my business following my every move, that should be my decision too; I shouldn't need to give up all my info to [whoever] to prove who I am. Worry about my identity after I trade kiddie porn or sell steroids on the 'net, don't treat me like a troublemaker right off the bat. Ugh.
(Just got done reading Daemon that we were all discussing in another thread and started on the sequel. Shit, it's starting to look attractive.) What do you want? I'm busy.
