Icon57 Wrote:I would like it to be better explained just where the bleep the grid is.

Does it exist in a network? Is it a self-contained box? Is it accessible from any other system, or is it a little bottle universe?

I expect that we'll see some of that answered in the next one, getting into the nature of the world itself and the implications for computing and isomorphism as a larger concept.

Come to think of it, I can see Flynn Jr. looking into recreating the Isomorph species as a tribute to his father.

Icon57,
This was answered long before the film came out, by the director Joe Kosinski, and Sean Bailey, the producer. The Grid is a self-contained unit inside of Kevin Flynn's secret server underneath the arcade. It developed pretty much on its own (with help of course from TRON & CLU 2.0, and Kevin himself), without being connected to the internet. A metaphor that Kosinski used to really spell out the image of a self-sufficient, self-evolving place such as THE GRID was the Galapagos Islands. I'm surprised that people still aren't getting this.

Here's what I predict/and/or would like to see in Tron 3:
1)Yes, I, too would like to see programming concepts represented more than just someone touching a mirror and then, viola, a program is created. I'd like to see someone actually at a terminal, coding, and then see it intercut with footage of a program being rezzed up, as well as programs carrying out functions inside the computer. I guess that we didn't see much of this of this T:L because again, Flynn's server was and IS not the ENCOM server. I think way too many people are getting those two things mixed up. The Encom server, which was called the 511 in TR1N, is probably now up to the ENCOM 1533, LOL!!!!!!;
2)Alan will have to be digitized by the Shiva laser, and will come in contact with his own creation, TRON. I also see his Wife, Dr. Lora Baines-Bradley (were they divorced or at least, seperated since Lora moved to D.C. and Alan stayed at ENCOM????) and her digital counterpart Yori, playing a part in this that may mirror what happened in TR1N to some extent;
3)Dillinger Jr - still licking his wounds from the humiliation suffered him during the ENCOM OS 12 launch, he'll start snooping around hacking into Alan's, Roy "Ram" Kleinberg's, and Sam's accounts to see what dirt he can dig up and then use against them, especially since Sam is in control of ENCOM, and Alan is Sam's right-hand man; Jr. will be working very closely with Daddy and it was Bruce Boxleitner who stated that the phone call made during the OS12 launch, was to Dillinger Sr. Ed Jr. will also create a digital counterpart to cover his tracks and to assist him in his counterattack against the Flynns and Bradleys;
4)Quorra will be used to aid with genetic research and some ground-breaking medical breakthroughs will be made possible due to her existing in the real world; she'll also play a key part in TR3N in the battle against Dilinger Jr. and his digital lackey(s);
5)I suspect that Dillinger Jr.'s counterattack will be so nasty that a new version of the ISOs will be engineered as a last resort to help Sam, and Alan take out Dillinger Jr's digital counterpart (maybe something like a Sark 2.0, or the Kernel from Tron 2.0);
6)Sam will soon catch on to Dillinger Jr.'s sneak and shady nature, especially after a good talk with Alan about the old days at ENCOM, where Alan will tell him about Dillinger Sr.;
7)Someone will threaten to expose the FLYNN LIVES movement putting Roy, "Ram" Kleinberg & Alan at risk
8)The MCP - not sure if he'll return. Not even sure if Dillinger Jr. would want a new one, as the MCP was even willing to stoop to the level of blackmailing its USER to get what it wanted, and I'm sure that Daddy Dillinger has informed Junior of this fact; it would take some really savvy coding to create a completely unquestionable and compliant program (then again, CLU 2.0 was supposed to be compliant with Kevin Flynn's designs for the Grid, and we all know how that turned out);
9)Kevin will show up - maybe not in a corporeal form; Alan and Tron will also run into him and he'll reveal further some mysteries about what has gone on since '89 when he disappeared;
10)The program suits - I HOPE that the suits in TR3N are more reminiscent of the '82 look, but they'll probably be a mix of the '82 look with the T:L look;
11)The Grid - For some reason, maybe due to the threat level unleashed by Dillinger Jr., Sam will merge THE GRID with the current ENCOM server, creating a very cool digital world;

In closing, I LOVE the Tron: The Next Day clip and can't wait to start hearing what the plot will be for TR3N. Also, Re-Rez Ram and YORI LIVES!

It's really hard to say (for me, anyway) exactly what's going to go down in Tr3n, aside from the few hints that we've been given.

--Sam is taking over Encom again
--Alan is going to play a big part at Encom
--Judging by what we saw in The Next Day, Roy "Ram" Kleinberg will also be playing a part at Encom (I'm hoping they keep him in it, at least! I really hope that he and Alan are both at least somewhat important to the plot, as that would make for a really nice connection back to the original Tron for us fans, without having to have too much explanation for the newcommers to the series. I could easily see them [and maybe Lora?] working as the "behind the scenes" people at Encom while Sam, Quorra, and Tron are fighting in the digital world.)
--I would imagine that we would learn more about Quorra's significance and the whole "change the world" thing, though, to be really honest, I have no idea what direction they are planning on taking that. But it's a good bet that it will be explored somehow.
--Although there's nothing concrete pointing towards it, I would love to see a return to the Encom server. The Grid was cool, but as a fan of the original, I would love to see a return to Encom, and I think that could be done really well. (There are hints in this direction, considering Sam's return, plus everything we saw in The Next Day)

That's all I've got. And I've not had time to read this entire thread yet, so I apologize if I'm just restating what everyone else has already said.

This actually may be real, because the guy who uploaded it was the same guy who uploaded the, "Tron: The Next Day" clip that got yanked off of youtube immediately after he posted it. I've also read about this scene several times online and a consistent thing that was mentioned was a chat window showing Ed Jr and Ed Sr talking back and forth.

There was an interesting theory put forth - one guy on the comments thinks that Ed Sr. may be dead and may have fused his essence into a computer, and created an MCP 2.0 to keep his eye on things. In a round-about way that reminds me of the character Mr. House from FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS who merged himself with his computer, to stay alive for 200+ years.

Actually, there's an interesting question...does a User have a lifespan in the Grid? Like, if you went in young and just stayed there for 50 years (let's assume the hardware kept getting upgraded and such to make this work) would you ever die of old age when your body naturally would? I would think yes, since Users age in there, but you never know. (and, of course, if something happens to your body while you're in there-- I dunno, say the laser spontaneously combusts or something-- do you die in there or continue to live, just that you can't get out because you have no body to get back to?)order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Now that Tron's back to his old self, we'll probably be seeing more of him (and no doubt more of Bruce Boxleitner's 80's face). Keeping in mind that Tron has always been considered the greatest warrior in the game grid, he'll be fighting a mighty enemy. Perhaps Dillinger will bring back his dad's MCP program, upgraded to fight instead of control?

oooh, there's just one, itty bitty, teensy tiny, little bittle, microscopically insignificant little flaw in that idea.

TRON IS DEAD! DID YOU NOT SEE THE MOVIE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

We don't see Tron derezz when he hits the water, we do, however, see his lights turn from Orange to Blue, meaning he's Tron again.

So that gives us ample reason to believe he survived.

I'm not going to make any predictions here, but regarding Clu coming back . . .

Maybe Sam or a Regenerated Flynn could rebuild Clu as a hero OR Sam could Use the old script of Clu from the original TRON.

I'm not totally against him being in Tron 3, it's just that I think it needs a change. If you had him the villian again, it would be an annoying rehash.

Ed Dillinger Jr is ploting something with his father.

But maybe known/unknown to him is that his dad, Dillinger Sr is sort of "dead", but his mind was uploaded into a secret computer server within Encom and has become "Master Control" himself... Just a prediction/speculation...
