You should of followed the Flynn Lives ARG, aspects of it delved into some of Flynn's backstory from 1983 up to 1989...

I would have loved to ....but because of my slow connection speed it took AGES to load any images. And forget about any video clips there....
I heard wonderful things about it...and remember checking it out back when it first started. I visited again a few months ago, but it was so graphic heavy i just looked at a couple of things and then gave up.
Any tidbits or memorable moments you could fill me in on?

well on the site helloflynn.com which server that "ISOlatatedthinker" (secretly Alan Bradley) snuck out of Encom years ago, playing the ARG you could enter in codes from different things (like translating the Bar Codes hidden in the playable "Space Paranoids Online" game that unlocked images of Flynn's designs for the structure of and the vehicles in the Grid.
Each unlocked pictures had notes which spoke of these:
The new Recognizers' original intention was to be used to find Programs with glitches and errors and take them to were they can be repaired.
The games (on The Grid) were meant to test out new vehicle designs that he would use in future videogames.
Flynn at first wanted to see if he could encode his memories of his wife Jordan (whom he said died in a car accident) into the Grid, and somehow re-create her in digital form so he could be with her again.
A later note attached to a picture of Jordan and little Sam he says that "things are changing" and not in a good way, and that he feels it would be to terrible a thought to think of Jordan and Sam trapped in the system as just lines of codes.
He vaguely mentions that "digital beings" are evolving in ways he didn't expect...
These are main, most striking things I can recall for now.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Hey Flynn1:
Love your observation. Also,as energy can't be destroyed, neither can matter. I think that what Sam was uploading into his flash drive was the data for the Grid itself, and as long as Quorra is around him, he can "splice" some "code" from her to reform his Father. Though, I'm not sure if he could splice a living breathing Kevin Flynn from her, but maybe a digital reincarnation from her. I also think that he plans to merge the Grid with whatever the updated version of the ENCOM 511 is. That will make for some interesting visuals - hope the program suits in TR3N are a mix of the old and new.
I've been a fan since 1982 and I also loved the visual metaphor of Kevin and Clu merging right before Flynn exploded. Also, the explosion, to me, look liked The Grid's equivalent of an atomic bomb - and the fact that it happened over water (more symbolism, as water symbolizes rebirth and creation, hence maybe why the writers had Rinzler/Tron falling into the Sea of Simulation and then his circuits charging up to the familiar blue we all now and love) to me, is interesting. I could probably write a thesis on all the metaphorical, philosophical, and societal things that are imbedded into the TRON movies - and it's not just "overthinking" - I've heard some interviews with Steven Lisberger himself as well as some of the ones with Olivia Wilde and it's no accident that these themes were put in Tron. It was deliberate, and to me, that is part of what makes TRON the coolest sci-fi idea around. where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Thank you my fellow Conscript for you great comments. Nice to hear i am not the only one reading such things into what i see on the screen! Awesome! The confirmation from Steven and Olivia is cool too...i was not aware of that. I will have to go back and read more interviews now that i have seen the movie a few times.
Yeah, i really dig films that have these 'hidden' meaningful things in them. Wether it be told with imagary, or hinted at with words...i get a lot out of that. It probably has a lot with me being an artisit and performer myself as i put a lot of 'symbolism' in my own works too. I get a real buzz when i get those vibes from other efforts. TRON is so much more then just a 'movie about a video game..'
Even watching the first film one can see some fairly profound concepts related to things completely unrelated to video games or computers. The 'belief in the Users' concept and the Tower Guardian concept/sequence touch on some spiritual elements. The paralells between the 'real world' and the 'electronic world' can be interupted as the differences between concious exsistance and a alternative exsistance. It is actually pretty darn beautiful when one looks beyond the flashy effects.
Getting back to today's Kevin - I appreicate getting to know a little more about his backstory ( thanks ShadowDragon!). Geez...the poor man finally sets things right and scores the position of his dreams at ENCOM, and then right after that it seems everything in his life kind of fell apart. His wife is killed in that horrid car crash, he has more responsibilities now with a young Sam, and then add to that CLU turning on him. I really have some sympathy for the guy.
This reflects some truths in real life...here in the 'real world'. Ever notice how those people who really try to make a difference in the world seem to fall on hard times? All the good they do for others, and yet they hit a major road block or suffer some emotional tragety in some form. What is nice is that when all is said and done, said person usually triumphs in the end..even if they have long passed away. I would like to think that the same holds true for Kevin in the future. I would like to think he is still around in some form...and that perhaps Sam and Quorra will unlock the secret to re-creating a representation of him.
Something else i was thinking....what IF Kevin was able to come back physically to the 'real world'? Can you imagine what that would be like....him having been away for so many years. He would probably be impressed with some of the technology that is present now ( but then again..maybe not!). It would be interesting to see his reaction to some of the things we all take for granted in this day and age. The segment in 'TRON : Legacy' that had Sam and Kevin talking about what is going on in today's world was entertaining in that respect. I think we all enjoyed Kevin's reactions to different things he was hearing about for the first time ( like 'Wi-Fi...ha ha!)

I watched the original 'TRON' again today, and enjoyed seeing Kevin in his youth. Every time i watch this film, i enjoy it even more it seems even though i have seen it so many times!
Something dawned on me related to the topic at hand, and i found it a interesting contrast. Here we have a tech-minded guy who is very hands on with his work. A brillant programmer...dare i say creative genuis. Now here he is surrounded by all this technology in his real life, and then when he just rezzes up on the Grid, he is literally IN it all. After multiple years trapped in there, surrounded by all this viritual tech, it is interesting to see that Kevin turned to meditation. It would be the last thing i would expect such a character as Kevin to do, but it makes for a wonderful contrast to what he represented up until the point we saw him agian in 'TRON : Legacy'. A nice flip...and to be honest it was probably what kept him sane while being stranded in there.
Quorra was like a surrogate daughter to him, so this of course would give him at least one other entity to converse and interact with. Seeing how Kevin chose to 'turn within' for possible answers was actually quite touching in some respects. I wonder if he ever introduced Quorra to the concept? She seemed interested in other things Kevin had shown here ( mainly his book collection, and stories from the past). I wonder if their relationship grew deeper with Kevin sharing this info with her.

I for one could accept a deeper relationship. He's a young man when he finds her, she is close if naive. I t would be natural. If he were older, I could see the father/daughter thing. Wonder what Sam thought, since he says later, "so you were protecting her all this time." Ok, Sammy what did you think was going on?
Forget it, Mr High and Mighty Master Control. You aren't making me talk.

Awesome question.
Isolation & motivation, I believe, are the two main factors contributing to the perceived change in Flynn’s personality. In Flynn’s younger years he would have had parents, mentors and peers that provided him comfort and safety to be open and free to exchange ideas or execute a decision without fear of making too big of a mistake. With a ‘safety net’ in place, Sam provided his father the necessary motivation to bring about change in life & society. Knowing his son, Sam, would be well taken care Flynn could take on as much risk as he felt was necessary.
Once betrayed, Flynn was isolated & alone without the prospect of leaving with no repercussions. He created a world that depended upon him for safety or CLU for preservation. Simply leaving for his own personal desire to be with his son would mean the demise of others. He must now face the challenges of life on his own but leverage his past experiences (mistakes?) to anticipate CLU. The mellow appearance is Flynn internalizing his fears, anxiety and arrogance until he can make sound and timely decisions.

Ah, the truth comes out. He probably could've escaped the grid, but... he must've found a way to uhh... handle... staying there.

Indeed...perhaps Kevin COULD have left the Grid and returned, but decided to stay and keep ...ehem...Quorra company.
( mind shifts to other thoughts...)
Getting back to the idea of the weekly tv series just covering some of these backstories....
There is a LOT they could explore. It could easily be padded out into a series, but the trick is, i am not sure Disney or any other studio would want to foot the bill. I still see press articles slagging off 'TRON : Legacy' saying it was a 'dud' and 'flopped'. I really do not see that...but whatever. Critics never were my scene anyway, man.
So Kevin and Quorra. I would be interested in learning if he ever taught her meditative techniques. She seemed curious about a lot of things, and since he seemed to really dig it i could see him introducing it to her if she expressed interest.
