I am sure in some version of the script, or maybe just in the realm of speculation, I like to assume that Lora gave Flynn the hardware and software and/or plans to build the more compact version of the digitizing laser we see here.

I'm assuming that from '82 to 1989 Lora developed and designed a more compact version of the digitizing laser using more advanced tech, and could be powered by battery cells or electricity with no need of a nuclear power source.

I completely agree with you Shadow. It's not that big of a stretch to think that Dr. Lora Baines would have miniaturized the digitizing laser. The digitizing laser she created and it plays an important role in TRON Legacy. Even though the character of Lora, Alan Bradley's wife, the creator of the technology/laser that digitizes people to the computer world is being left out of the movie.
