Qix77 Wrote:Ok.. as a gift from my brother, he acquired a while back an Asus M4A785-M motherboard. Not the one I had my eye on but after reading about it, I am impressed. I'm not able to use it since I still need to buy a CPU, RAM, and HDDs. I do have a case and power supply that I got from one of my local vendors..
Ok.. So this is what I've decided to get for it.
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Thuban 3.2GHz 4000MHz Socket AM3 6-Core 45nm Processor.
Nvidia GTX 490 (not right away. This is just currently an after thought).
8 Gigs RAM (MB only supports DDR2 but I'm not complaining).
Seagate or Westerndigital SATA HDDs (perhaps 2 = 1 terabyte)
I'm only going to get a DVD burner for now. Once they perfect and drop Blu-ray burners to a really affordable price then I'll switch to that. I love optical storage.
Believe it or not, I never owned a flat panel monitor. I might buy something big.
Also, I'm really thinking about getting a new desk and chair. I'm temped into getting the RAT 9 mouse but that may just be too silly of a purchase.
I am going to get a high-end soundcard because I plan on doing some music recordings with my guitar.
All in all, I think it will turn out great. It will be a great gaming system and will give me more than enough system resources for all my other media needs. When I have a powerful computer I use it for EVERYTHING... Literally..
.
..
... Any suggestions or thoughts on this matter will be greatly appreciated and undoubtedly ignored.. lol.. |
Sounds great. I have a DDR 3 version of that motherboard and yours should be able to support DDR 3 with a Bios update. I used ZipZoomFly to purchase all my parts and not only got sigificant discounts (I also purchased an operating system) but some of my purchases also had rebates (as debit cards). I got 4 core AMD Phenom and 4 Gigs of DDR 3 from OCZ as well as an OCZ 700 w, power supply. Your parts list sounds like a winner. I too purchased only a DVD burner. I wanted everything SATA so I kept it simple. I got a 1 TB Western Digital HD. A Caviar Black for about $90.00 and got a 15 buck rebate! I am using the on-board sound so you probably have a better idea of a soundcard you want. I used my old Geforce 8 card during the first month of the build and then upgraded to GTX 250 even though the mobo is set up for Radeon cards. I recycled my old Razer Copperhead mouse until it shorted out and I just got a microsoft Mini Explorer Bluetrack mouse. Cordless and very accurate and pretty cheap on Ebay. I want the the Razer Tron mouse but the failure of my Copperhead is making me wary. You should be able to get some pretty good deals right now. I would suggest getting a desk and chair too as having a comfortable place for your buys is important too. Get a decent LCD monitor and you should be "In like Flynn" as they say.

That is really good input. I like checking out everyone's PC builds. I'm a hardware junkie. Oh, and I'd love to have the TRON mouse too.. That is so awesome.
In a distant thread I was talking about making my very own case mod. I still might do it. Here is a site that has some of the best designs though I'd want to make my own original design.

this reminds me of the movie Chain Reaction. The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships? Motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day. I got in. |

Making ones own case is cool but it can be a job. I've never done it, as I am to finicky when it comes to just sitting down and cranking out a design and then building. Plus my handyman skills are more in putting together the internals more than designing and building the shell. However if you are good at that, that is one thing to consider in your build. I've been to Bit-Tech many times, it's good to see them still around after all these years. Alot of case modders would showcase their designs on the site. I have seen the timebomb case before. Very cool. I also remembe seeing a Alien inspired case which was pretty Rad too.order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion "Word to the Motherboard!" - IsoLine |

As far as mice go I heartily recommend the Razer Mamba wireless laser gaming mouse. I bought it a few months ago and have found its performance is flawless.

Well.. I've got mine built (except for the GFX card I want which is an XFX Radeon HD5970)... I'm running Win 7 Ultimate 64 which is a huge change from XP. Had major gateway connection issues earlier but updating my router's fimware version fixed that.
The onboard GPU is a HD 4200.. It's a bit lame but I was able to play Halo 2 and Bionic Commando Rearmed with it. They ran a bit slow but other than that it's doing ok.
MAME works really good, and so does my DS emulator. I'm going to test Dreamcast and PS2 emulation after the weekend (have to work).
Anyways, I'm excited. I'll take some pics and upload em.. |

For me it would be the keyboard itself. With the option for the led to change from red, green, blue, yellow, and purple option. And having the keyboard that you can configure the key with the layouts of which key go where. Like a bilingual french Canadian keyboard, or the standard US keyboard, The Kvork keyboard I think there was one I think. Which would look sweeeeet. At least your almost done over there with the setup and the only thing like you mention quixx the gfx card. I am working on one comp for my father and a secondary one that is using Athlon XP that I picked up a casing that is in blue that looks kind of tronish. But no neon lights on it. But thta might change as well with a little modding on it. Without power supply $15$ canadian. I have a 500watt power supply for it. Just taking my time for it until I can get other things settled first.
