Found a website with pics and descriptions of some pretty interesting 2600 accessories. Apparently the 2600 is a pioneer in more technologies than most people would think!


This is called "Le Stick". It used mercury switches to allow motion detection. Probably the first example of motion detection, even predating the Power Glove.


These are wireless 2600 controllers, the same kind I have. Speaking from experience, those joysticks are really heavy.


The "Joy Sensor", possibly the first example of touch-based control being integrated into a game. Apparently, the goal of this peripheral was to mimic the Intellivision controllers.


Screw the Wii's Balance Board, I've got a "Joyboard".


The "Crusader". It's the only light gun that looks cooler than a Super Scope.


You know how your cheating controllers have had that turbo button on them for ever? That's what this is, but it's for the 2600. Plug it in between your controller and system, and you've got an autofiring joystick.

I remember all of those except for the Fire Control and Le Stick.

Didn't own any of them though.

Looking at this does kind of make me want to fire up my Atari 2600 now. Maybe I'll play some Atari Pac Man. What a hideous recreation of Pac Man... but interestingly still fun. If only I could play it with a Fire Control. I know the fire button doesn't do anything in Pac Man, but still - always looking for new experiences with old technology. he he

I'm thinkin' about doing a series of Youtube vids showcasing several old game systems I have. I'll probably start with Vectrex, since it's the only one I have out at the moment, lol.

I'll create another thread when I actually make the vid.
