Star Wars Trilogy Arcade - Wii game?

on Tuesday, July, 15, 2008 7:52 PM
My favorite arcade game, hands down, is Sega's 1998 Star Wars Trilogy Arcade. It's a rail shooter with a joystick and two event buttons that light up when they can be used. Unfortunately, Sega never ported it to consoles. However, considering that they recently ported Ghost Squad and House of the Dead 2 & 3 to the Wii, Star Wars seems to be up next. It could be released as a $30 game, not WiiWare (the game had a lot of CD quality music, so if it were a WiiWare game, you'd run out of HD space), and Sega could make some new stages on the game's original engine, thus making them look like "lost" stages. The game could use the Wii MotionPlus accesory for the lightsaber duel bonus levels. Here's some of what I think would be good additional stages for a $30 rerelease:

-Special party modes for up to 4 players simultainiously, like in Ghost Squad for Wii.
-Add an Asteroid Belt level from Episode 5.
-Add a Cloud City lightsaber duel bonus level.
-Sound Test

Does Sega still have a Star Wars license of some sort? If not, this game will likely never be ported, anywhere. Which sucks, cuz I like the game too. We have a machine in the game room at the resort I work at..I go in on my days off sometimes to play it

I'd buy it for the PS3. It would look great in 1080p!

I dunno if they do now, but I know they did in the 90's. There was the original Star Wars Arcade, released in '91, which was ported to the 32X in '96. Then, there was Trilogy and Episode 1 racer, neither of which were ported to consoles.*

If not, this game will likely never be ported, anywhere. Which sucks, cuz I like the game too. We have a machine in the game room at the resort I work at..I go in on my days off sometimes to play it

Awesome. I really think that a port is quite likely at this time, with the Star Wars Clone Wars (which isn't really thrilling me, btw) and Force Unleashed (which IS really thrilling me) hype. Since Force Unleashed takes place right before Episode 4, it seems almost cronological to port Trilogy. It'd probably be best on Wii, with IR pointing and stuff, but then again Sony's Wiimote copy might work out pretty good. Players looking for a more genuine arcade feel could get an XBLA version of the game.

Wii controls:

Wiimote 1:
B - Fire
A - Event
Point - Aim
Wiimote beeps once when event is available.

Wiimote 2:
A - Fire
B - Event
Point - Aim
Wiimote beeps once when event is available.

Nunchuck 1:
A/B - Fire
Z/C - Event
Point - Aim
Wiimote beeps once when event is available.

Nunchuck 2:
A/B - Event
Z/C - Fire
Point - Aim
Wiimote beeps once when event is available.

Classic Controller 1:
A/B/X/Y - Fire
L/R/ZR/ZL - Event
Left stick/Right stick - Aim
Wiimote beeps once when event is available.

Classic Controller 2:
A/B/X/Y - Event
L/R/ZR/ZL - Fire
Left stick/Right stick - Aim
Wiimote beeps once when event is available.

Maybe if Lucasfilm where to try and revive the original trilogy again, they could hire Sega to port that game and make some new Star Wars games, too. Speeder Bike racing game with motion control? Awesome!

Yeah, if they don't have the license, it won't happen

Which is too bad, cuz I really think it would be awesome if the old Atari Star Wars arcade games could be released as well. Those were *the* thing back in the day.

Yeah, the Atari Star Wars games are great. I've only tried them emulated through Star Wars Rogue Squadron III on Gamecube, though. I'm really good at Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back, but I can't last a second in Return of the Jedi.

Now I'm afraid I'll be criticized for liking Trilogy more than the originals...where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

The Atari Star Wars games are unlockable extras on Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike for the GameCube/Wii. Fortunately, the game has cheat codes, so you don't have to play the game in order to get the arcade classics.

But yeah it is a shame about the Star Wars Trilogy arcade. I spent many quarters on that game and fortunately there's one cabinet in Busch Gardens, which I go there a lot. Unfortunately, MAME doesn't supports it very well, so emulation is out of the question.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

There's one good machine in my area, and it's a sit down cabinet that has curtains on the side and a celing. The machine is in great shape, but it costs a dollar a play!

However, there's another machine near my place that's cheaper, but the joystick doesn't work correctly.

I remember once I got all 20-25 shots on the Boba Fett duel. Perfect!
