I wonder if it was part of the inspiration behind the MCP's design...

How about making a small version of the t3d in either clear plastic or partly clear plastic and regular steel that is used in a standard casing Qixx? Or wood if you can't use metal for the casting? That would look neat? And more rugged than the standard casing would be??

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

That's pretty much the plan.. I just want to try and create a 3D model of it first to get an ideal what I might do. I think that the T3D model is awesome and I want to make a smaller version for a desktop PC tower. |

I'm thinking about using acrylic and paint it with the right stuff that can resist scratching. I think it would work out.
Here is a really rough (and bad 3D obj mimic I did in TS3) model but it's something to get an idea for a desktop PC... I'll redo it if I ever have time..
You guys can see the areas I screwed up on, but still... It was rushed cause I don't have much time to spare..

It looks cool. Too bad Cray do not have on their web sites the specifications for their super computers. Like what they have in them and the dimensions of what the casing size is. With that We could replicate the size smaller than they really are like a model casing look alike. And maybe an emblem that looks like the cray logo or a tron logo look alike for the MCP, Tron and the other logos that we could use for each kind of programs that are out there. It would definitely be cool. ANd with fibre optics for highlights for the casing as well.

After going over a few revisions where I can make the model look just like the picture, then scaling it would not be a problem... a series of simple mathematical steps (algebra would be quicker but I suck at it) will do, however there will have to be certain modifications for cooling and noise reduction purposes. Also I would modify it so that it is easy to get into the system for either manitance and upgrades.... but I think I can do so without changing it's appearance too much.
Check this site out... This guy made a computer chasis by making his very own 'Companion Cube' from 'Protal'.. very cool...

Would be interesting to try and make a tron casing for once for the PC end. Something similar to like what the encom 51 looked like or something similar with a red, blue, green or yellow fibre optic wire or light arond the corners of the casing with a see through for the actual motherboard. And a LCD display for the temperature of the inside of the case. And what kind of processor heat is coming out. Like if your using a duo 2 core, quad processor or a dual XEON CPU in the machine and available memory as well that is in the machine. Would be interesting. And a large enough power supply to work everything together.

As far as I know Microway still makes them somewhere along the line. But I am not sure if they are still in production though. http://www.microway.com/
I know these cpu's are still a great thing to have. But I know for sure that MS does not support these guys only up to Windows NT 4.0 and that is about it with them. Unless you go the linux/unix way then there is a possibilities for that for these CPU's. Love thos Alpha CPU's Just for the Motherboard and processor is just #1100 alone in US prices.
