London Bomb Attempt

on Friday, June, 29, 2007 3:40 PM
Today, June 29th, I was watching the news and it was reported as two bombs being found in London. It's still being reported so if they find a third one, I'll jump back on and report it.

Kudos to the British police/agencies for being alert and keeping our buddies in the UK safe.

I know. I was just watching the news and now (June 30th) their threat level is on the level of critical. I didn't get anymore information yet, but if I get anymore detail, I'll post more about it here.

Ok.. this one was at Glasgow's Airport. It blew up and caused many injures. Here is a report from Bloomberg.com

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aPy9rYQEoFEk&refer=home
June 30 (Bloomberg) -- A burning sport-utility vehicle drove into the main doors of Glasgow International Airport's terminal, heightening Britain's terror alert a day after two car bombs were dismantled in London.

The U.K. Home Office raised its terrorist threat assessment to the highest level ``critical'' from ``severe,'' meaning an attack is expected imminently. Glasgow airport was closed and evacuated, and two people were arrested, police said.

The incident came as police were conducting one of their biggest ever manhunts after dismantling two car bombs made from gas canisters, gasoline and nails left in the heart of London's West End shopping and theater district yesterday.

``The real question is, is it part of a plan that is being directed by someone?'' said David Bentley, an analyst in terrorism law at London-based policy research group Chatham House. ``London today, Glasgow tomorrow, then maybe Birmingham or Manchester?''

Cobra, the Cabinet's emergency committee, met this evening for the second time today, after convening yesterday in response to the London bombs, a Downing Street spokeswoman said.

``It is right to raise the level of security in airports and in crowded places in the light of the heightened threat,'' Prime Minister Gordon Brown said in a televised statement after the meeting. He said the London incidents and the Glasgow ``attack'' should remind people to be ``vigilant.''
