I'm not a big fan of YouTube for several reasons. I'm amazed that they honed in on your TRON video amongst all the other better known stuff out there.

Maybe try Yahoo video? Their video quality is 100 times better than YouTube. I'm not sure how much they police their video content though.

There is also MySpace video. Their video quality is also far superior to YouTube.

Actually, there are dozens of free video hosting websites out there and almost all of them offer better quality video coding than YouTube AND the ability to embed your video wherever you want. I think people forget that YouTube ain't the only choice. They're just the best known and most popular... for reasons I cannot understand.

Disney took down some of my Rocket Man videos a while ago (I was trying to upload the whole movie because the Rocket Man fans on YouTube were begging me to upload it). Fortunately they haven't taken down the shorter videos I made from the movie.

Viacom really pissed me off when they took down all of the old school Nickelodeon videos. Mind you, this is the old stuff on Nickelodeon, before it became the crapshack it is today. Yeah, Traahn is right . . . Wendy Carlos' record company is going after people who post any of her music online. Even if it's just a small snippet. Mentioning Wendy Carlos in the description of your video gets their attention instantly. So leaving out her name may allow your video to survive unscathed for longer.

When you read up on what Serendipity Records is doing, it all seems rather ridiculous. They're even forcing people to de-list their eBay auctions, if they use the cover artwork from any of Wendy Carlos' albums when they try to sell them. WTF?

People who have had their videos taken down are saying that they could have left out mention of Carlos' name, but didn't because they wanted to help promote her music. And now they're being punished for it. I guess I can understand if someone posted an entire unedited, high quality version of one of her tracks. But clips in a fan video? Come on.

My video was called "Tron in 51 seconds" and was very short clips of the film put together from beginning to end. I suppose there may have been some W3ndee Carl0s music in there but it would have been 1/2 a note or something.

Do you think us even typing out "W3ndee Carl0s" correctly would be a violation?

Shame that it came to that. I thought my video was a good showcase for Tron and got people interested in it. It had lots of positive comments, views, and links. To have Carl0s' company be the axeman stings even more.

it's ironic, how I wouldn't give a rats arse about most of the music I like, and appreciate, if I hadn't listened to a song on the net, or listened to it in some form of a media outlet.
So I have to ask, which I understand.

But, if someone didn't make something truely creative w/ the noise, out of joy, or inspiration, where would these people I enjoy be? I really wouldn't give a rats arse. I make orchestra music in my head all day long.
