Until you run for public office, you're safe. The minute that happens.... you're toast.
|
Yeah - VERY true!
Of course, that would be true regardless of my silly productions. They always find something, be it partially true, or completely made up. I won't be running for any office any time soon... but maybe I could get Weed Killer to run for office.
Remember when Max Headroom ran for office in 1988? I remember him and forgotten MTV personality "Randy of the Redwoods" running silly campaigns to promote themselves.
Back on Weed Killer - I submitted Episode 2 to a local theatre for potential public showing. They showed two of my other productions (the latest was Cutting Room Floor last year), so I'm hoping they'll give the green light for this one. I'd LOVE to see it in front of a live audience WITHOUT the damn chicken people there this time!

Great work Todd!
The new intro was very retro-cool; it was also somewhat familiar... I know, it reminded me of the retro-cool intro to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which I've always liked.
Everything about this Weed Killer is improved over the first version. I especially like how you colored the lettering and pulled the swinging cube back a bit because now your background is much more reminiscent of the background that Max Headroom featured, while not copying it. The new look that you and Sketch came up with is also great.
Before this latest video of yours, I'd never heard of Liposuction Theater; it's just repulsive... and oddly compelling at the same time. I mean, while I'd never attend one of these 'performances', I have watched a couple of documentaries about the procedure on the Discovery Channel, and it is interesting.
Great job, and I look forward to the next one!order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

Thanks so much, MutoidMan! I'm glad you enjoyed my demented 8-bit take on things.
I really appreciate that! Yes - I was trying to go for more of the Max look and feel WITHOUT trying to appear as if I'm trying to be Max or recreate him. I spent a lot of time on the intro sequence alone in hopes that 1) it would be cool and people would smile while watching it 2) I could re-use it in future episodes, like a TV show intro kind of thing.
And you've got me really curious about the intro to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
I'm sure I could find one if I dug around a little, but if you know of one - can you shoot me a link to a video of the intro of it? I've never played the game, but I love retro stuff... as if that isn't abundantly clear in my work.

I was just watched Cutting Room Floor and Weed Killer 2 with my friend.
He really liked CRF, but when I showed him Weed Killer - and I kid you not - he laughed so hard that by the end he was gasping for breath!
In other news, this is my 900th post!

Haaaaaaaaaa!
That was awesome!
Thanks for the link, MutoidMan!
Yes, I did indeed dig it - had to watch it a couple of times.
Man - the people who came up with the C64 bit scored major cool points with me. I practically want the game just because of that and the general 80's feel to that thing. Is it based in the 80's? I've heard of a GTA game that has an 80's feel to it... I think, anyway.
After watching it, I started wondering though... I've never played any of the GTA games, nor have I seen them in action. But they're very popular and pretty much every gamer has played them, or at least knows someone who has it and seen it in action. So... how many of them might happen across my Weed Killer 2 video and think "hey - this guy ripped off GTA: Vice City!" Oh well. I thought I was being original with my C64 Weed Killer intro... it seemed like the perfect way to start off a video about a digital character who lives in an early 80's computer. I had no idea that a similar intro already existed in the GTA game. Oh well - there truly is nothing original anymore. No matter what you think up, chances are someone else already thunk it up before you - it just may or may not be widely known to all.

Sweet!
Thanks for showing my videos to your friend!
Even more so - THANK YOU for telling me his reaction to them!
When I came up with the material for Weed Killer 2, it was funny to me. Then I recorded it... then worked on it... etc. After a while, it wasn't funny at all and I started wondering if anyone would find it funny, or just think I'm a sick-o.
I showed an early edit of it to three guys at work back in mid September (before my HD failure). To my complete delight - they all laughed hysterically! One guy laughed so hard, he came to tears and his face was almost purple! They hated the ending part lines (which I replaced with the lipo-cheer) but they loved the rest of it. Then I started feeling like I had spent my time wisely on this one and I was VERY glad to have tested it out on people before finishing it and releasing it to the world. I think the original ending may have killed the fun mood for most people. I had no idea until I got feedback though.
Humor is a tough thing. I've got a twisted, warped sense of humor. I often find humor in things that other people may find disturbing or inappropriate.
I'm actually worried what people might think about the material for Weed Killer 3. I've got a rough, partially done monologue written down. It is definitely twisted and absurd... but is it funny or just gross? I have no idea where most people draw the line, so I have to be careful not to cross it. Yet at the same time - I gotta drag the audience on a joyride in to my messed up little mind!

*Raises hand* My bad. But a good carpet cleaner/deodorizer should help with that.

Today, one of my friends (not me, amazingly) managed to start a discussion about Weed Killer amongst my other friends whom I've shown WK2 to.
This is the same friend also keeps quoting Weed at strange times. For example, today I was trying to translate a bit of Latin (unsurprisingly in a Latin lesson ), and just when I thought I had it, I heard my friend saying things like, '"per ianuam principiorum' - that's a fun word - principiorum' and then he started making sucking noises, before finishing off by telling me that Latin is 'the shi-shi-shi-shi-shi-shi... Latin is COOL!'
Todd, you're a bad influence.

That's AWESOME!
Man, I LOVE to hear that! It's not an ego trip or anything - it is SOOOOO cool to know that I've been able to give some people something that they find entertaining and fun enough to incorporate in to their daily routine... and Latin classes.
Oddly enough, something very similar happened today at lunch. I was eating a bit messy, and a co-worker made a comment that I had food-goo on my fingers and so I started to lick my fingers clean... and he went and made the liposucion sucking noise while I was doing so, which made me laugh... THEN he said "that got me light-headed" which made me laugh harder and some food shot out of my mouth!

He he he - I'm JUST getting started, my friend.
And again - THANK YOU for introducing some of your friends to Weed Killer. Perhaps they'll show their friends and the'll show their friends...
I'd send you a Weed Killer t-shirt... if they existed. But they don't... at least not yet. But they might in the future. IF I can find enough interest in the character to justify the start-up costs of merchandising such a thing. Well, I can dream - it would be so cool to see people wearing t-shirts with Weed Killer on them. I've always wanted to make my mark on pop-culture.

For a second I had to look really close and wonder how he did such a great job transferring that to a black t-shirt!
So, the world's FIRST Weed Killer T is now upon us... even if only through the magic of PhotoShop.
Looks pretty damn cool, I must say!
Of course, I'm biased.
Man - I'm so tempted to have some real ones made now. There's a place near where I work that does that kind of thing, but it ain't cheap.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

Thanks, Dakota Bob! I appreciate that!
If you know anyone else who may enjoy that video, please send them a link.
I'm working on material for a 3rd Weed Killer video, but I've been too busy with life in the real world to take any action on it yet. Damn real world!
