I must have been out of the loop for a while, but I heard that they are producing antimatter (like antihydrogen) on a very small scale.
This is huge. I'm going to try and collect a few links and post them here......

I only have limited knowledge on the subject, but would this help the energy crisis any, what with all the energy produced when matter combines with anti-matter (or something along those lines)?order abortion pill abortion pill buy online where to buy abortion pill

Basic synopsis of the big picture of anti matter
I shall illustrate the basics with this equation
small amount of anti-matter + equal portion of matter = anniliation of both substances and release of Huge amouts of energy
If this reaction could be susutained and controled, the amount of energy relased from a seemingly miniscule amount of fuel could equal the output of several nuclear power plants. However, It could also be used to create bigger badder WMDs as well.

I think when it's done it will be more like:
small amount of anti-matter + equal portion of matter = null value. The substances attain a chemical state of equilibrium and no energy is emitted. I'm kidding, of course. The question that occurs to me, is whether I want something like H3 burning at a million degrees powering my house,(like a solar panel wont work) or, do I care that anti-matter reaction, releases more energy than H3 fusion?

The Cap'n is right... I've been reading Stephen Hawking's "A brief History of Time" ( 1988 ) and been checking stuff out on the net for updated information.
Antimatter can be used as a great fule source, but I can only see it being used as a replacement of Nuclear Power plants and space shuttles/stations/and other NASA stuff. But I would so be scared living in the same country were someone is driving a car that runs of antimatter.
Using antimatter for WMDs would be over kill (which is what WMDs are made for). However, I think it would be way tooooooooooo dangerous to experiment with so I hope no goverment on earth trys it.
I am interested in antigravatons, but since we know very very very little about gravity I don't think we will hear much of anything about it in a very long time.... but I could be wrong.
On a stupid note: I thought I found a wormhole in my back yard, but instead it was a hole my dog dug out.

Strider cannons from Half Life 2 spring instantly to mind.
I'm sure i read somewhere that if antimatter comes into contact with matter it would release enough energy to destroy a city, if not a country or the earth.
i'm a bit very skeptical about that fact.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion words of wisdom from...

The creation of elementary anti-matter particles is nothing new. Anti-Electrons (Positrons) and Anti-Protons have been used in experiments for years. In fact, I think even entire atoms of anti-matter is not a new development.
As for how useful it can be. Well, if we could find a really cheap way (energy-wise) to make anti-matter . . . then sure, it would be an incredible source of energy.
The problem is, it takes as much energy to create anti-matter, as what gets released. So at this point, the process is useless.
Makes for good science-fiction, though.

Its all depends on how much matter and anti-matter you have. One proton and one anti-proton coming into contact I don't think really do all that much. You can use E=mc2 to get the exact number if you'd like. And granted its been a while since I've looked into this topic in detail but I don't think anyone's ever made more then a few anti-protons of anti-matter.

From what I read, one antihydrogen atom produced comming in contact with a hydrogen atom in the lab they experiment is no biggy, but does produce a massive discharge of engery on a sub-atomic level. Lots of antimatter would make big booms in large amounts.
Positrons (antielectrons) are rather common and being used in the medical field from what I read. I still can't help to think that some cartoon I watched as a kid had a positron cannon or something.
This is interesting crap, but the more I read books about it the more I get a headache.... but quantium science is really cool. I suppose I'm a true geek for admiting it... but hey... geeks are considered cool these days...

That I'm not sure about unless you consider an anti-proton to be an ionized atom of anti-hydrogen. I believe most, if not all, anti-protons have been produced in colliders. In which case I think they'd be too hot and not survive long enough to capture a positron. I don't remember ever reading about anti-neutrons and I'm not even sure they'd be stable.
Positrons are actually rather common in conparision to anti-protons. I always found it interesting that from a fermi diagram perspective that a positron could be considered to be an electron that was traveling backwards in time. Check out the left most diagram here:
In these diagrams the vertical axis is time. The horizontal axis is space. Note the electron goes up and is labeled with e and the positron goes down and is also labeled with e. For more on this topic you can take a peek here:

That's where I grabbed the above image.

Note if you find the above interesting look at the electron-positron annihilation and the electron-positron pair production diagrams.
Another way to think about them is the electron-positron annihilation is the event we see when an electron recoils off a photon sending the electron traveling back in time. In short the electron and the position are the same particle and we just see both before the collision because the electron is about to turn around in time.
The electron-positron pair production is the same except its now a positron recoiling off a photon and getting turned around in time to become an electron.
Now if you take these two diagrams and stick them together you can actually get the electron traveling in a loop. The electron/positron can get stuck in time being bounced back and forth between two photons.
Qix77 I hope the above makes me a cool geek too as I love thinking about this stuff.

Me too, buddy... I'm really nothing more than a hillbillie (lol) but I love learning about stuff like this. I think it's because we can understand some of it and how it's important to the interconnection of all things.... that, and it's really cool crap.. lol..
Geeks are cool.... and geeks that know how to explain things in ways we can understand are like 'rock-stars' in their field of science.
So yeah... we be cool geeks... We can start our own street gang... but instead of doing drive-bys, we could anniliate a person's body matter with our super cool antimatter phaser guns... lol....
But what really makes us cool is that we are willing to learn about crazy stuff like this, and admire it. I'm rather excited to see what they discover 10 years from now....

As redrain was saying, CERN has been making antimatter for over 10 years. Antimatter is already being used commercially. A medical PET scan collides antiparticles inside of your body. Pretty cool stuff.

Yeah... I read about that. They are using positrons (antielectrons) as a treatment for cancer I think. Pretty cool stuff..
