...was because the heatsink in my current computer blew up.
Took me a while to get back, but my computer's now outfitted with a new mobo, a new heatsink (because it didn't fit my current mobo), a new AMD athlon 64 3800+ and a new ram stick.
I know I've missed a lot here.

Sorry to hear about your computer troubles, but it sounds like you've got a nifty new setup now.
I know I'm itching to upgrade my PC, myself. But I've vowed to wait until some time next year. This will be the longest I've ever gone without a big upgrade. I usually did it every 2 years, but this time it will be 5 years. (I did a minor upgrade 2 years ago, but not a full replacement like I usually do.)

Forgive me if this sounds rude, but how can a heatsink blow up? Was it a stock or inferior aftermarket one that failed to keep your proc from feeling the burn of OCing?

That was sort of an exaggeration, but it was more like it just stopped working outright (turned out that a ball bearing got loose). The Athlon chip has this built in heat sensor, so if the computer gets too hot, it goes "AAAAH I'M TURNING THE COMPUTER OFF."
Kept doing that for a week and I was like "oh, shoot." I guess it just went out because it was few years old and had been a hand-me down.

But thats kewel that you and Silver were able to get it fixed and rebuilt at your end and now your back online there. Its like me and my SGI O2 that my friend had decided to give me over here. I am slowly getting the operating burned to cd over here for it. 13 cd's and 2 patch cd's for it from the net. And it'll be nearly brand spanking new over here for me. Just need to upgrade the memory for it to 1 gig of ram and get 2 18 gigs SCSI ultra/wide for it. And I'll be set with it. Right now it has only 128 megs of ram and 2X4 gigs of hard drive space for it. Once I can get it running and test it further. It'll be cool for editing and do what I want with it. Fun to work with old technology like this its a classic for myself anyways.
