Happy Birthday Mr. Lisberger!
Your film literally changed my life. After seeing it in 1982,
I knew I had to get into computer animation. It's been my
career (and passion) for 20 years now. I think it's entirely
safe to say that EVERY professional/serious computer animator
ON THIS EARTH between the ages of about 35 to 50 was
greatly influenced by this one film.(I'm 47, btw)
Many younger ones too, but they also had the benefit of all
the astounding advances in CGI since. Many of those very
advances were also pushed forward by Tron. Not to mention all
the superb non-CGI aspects of the film...,
I know that you are already aware of its huge influence,
but I wanted to say it anyway. What a legacy to have left to
the entire world!! I hope you are very proud of this legacy,
you have every reason to be.
Sorry to be a little long-winded here, but you're a hero to me!
