What services can be recommended to you, depends on where you live exactly. Unless someone lives in the same area as you, we can't really give you much in the way of all that useful advice.

I mean . . . Verizon in California may have a different reputation than Verizon in New York. And there might be certain DSL providers that exist in one state, that don't in other parts of the U.S.

In my case, I live in Canada, and we have completely different providers. (And for anyone who lives in Canada, Sympatico has decent service but are a little pricey. Meanwhile, their tech support is worthless from what I hear. And they are falling behind in the speed wars now, when before they used to be in the lead. Still, their service is reliable and they have no bandwidth caps.)

The best I can advise, is go to DSL Reports and type in your ZIP code there. It will bring up a list of ISP reviews from people living in your area.

Sounds like a good idea there. REsearch is always a good thing. Like what Reddrain has mentioned he is in Canada like I am. And I know my kid bro is in Toronto using DSL. So I have used only once at his house. So It will vary from DSL to DSL provider. Sometimes it is good to go with the smaller providers too. Even though they are not the same as the bigger ones Like Version in the US or Sympatico up here in Canada. Or High speed cable like in The provinces in Quebec. So check it out.
