Hey hey Congrads on the job there Kia. I remember the longest time that you were having problems with that. Noe you can get what you want there as for console games and all that.
KiaPurity Wrote:Actually, PS2's promise was delivered, it's just that some companies didn't use it. -_- Okay, not some. Most. Go figure.
Good luck, Qix!
As for me: Definitely getting a PS3 and Nintendo Revolution. I might wait a bit on PS3 if I don't have the money for it by then.
Wait, what am I saying? I have a job now. x_x |

Boingo, I have friends who are on their 5th, 6th and even 7th systems - and no, they didn't abuse them.
The drives broke down every time.
I know only 1 person who had a bad GameCube and one had a bad X-Box.
I've seen some pretty games on the PS2 (God of War and Shadow of the Colossus for example), but I've not seen a single game (not counting CGI pre-rendered video) that looked like a Pixar-quality film!
I'm interested to see what the Revolution and PS3 have at launch. I know about Red Steel on the Rev, but I haven't seen any definites for the PS3.
Here's hoping it's not another Jak game and is something really cool! Not that Jak is a bad series, but that's not what I'm looking for to make me buy a system (especially if it launches at $599 or more, which could be possible).
And, kmon, I couldn't run my PC through my system - you'd have to see my house to understand why I couldn't. So, no, I can't run PC games on my HDTV or surround sound system! At least not in my house! I know it's possible, just not at my pad!

You can always move to India. There's tons of technical related jobs there right now and more being sent over... I mean, more opportunities being created daily!

I rather like it up here in Canada right now. And since I would like to be able to move eventually near where my kid bro is in Toronto. I need to start off small here and get everything going here first with my home base business. Then probably move out westward with it. I have some ideas that I need to bring up and get started. Oe of them happens to be with computers. And the other is slightly different but will try and combine the two to make it work over here. Some of the things that I have seen on adverts are just too fishy for my tastes over here. But I will check that out tomorrow. I am going to find out with a conseller tomorrow from the government agency on how to start things out over here. I have certain things here that I can start actually working to make my web pages and the server for it. The other stuff I need a second opinion about it to see what they think and if it is a good idea. Don't want to start off on the wrong foot with anything. Like anything in life you need a master plan to start with and work off of that and sometimes modify it as you go and make essential changes to it as you go.

Thanks, Kia... I'm looking forward to it..
Leave it to Nintendo to take something really weird and make it work... Examples:
Donkey Kong: No donkey's in the game (and yes I know as to why they called it Donkey Kong)
Mushroom Kingdom: Wha..??? But SMB is still an awesome game to play
Nintendo DS: I thought that Nintendo would have crashed and burned due to this system, but I was so wrong. The DS is really a solid hand-held. I'm still not buying one but that's ok since I can play my sisters... Check out Tetris DS. Best looking Tetris game I have ever seen.
...
...
...
Now we have to look forward to the new weird Nintendo controller for the Revolution. I'm sure that somehow and some way it will be the controller of choice reguardless what my first impressions will be. If it does work, then leave it to Nintendo to be the only ones that can do it.
Ok.. Bye...

The good news about the Revolution is that there will be a docking port for the controller so you can play any of the games as if using a regular controller versus the freerange stick.
Supposedly there will be various types of ports (i.e. steering wheels, guns for FPS games, etc.). That will be neat.
Here's hoping this is a step in the right direction and not another R.O.B. the Robot!

Thanks for the input....
I remember R.O.B. .... It was a bad idea but that was when they were trying for a different marketing technique to try and convence buyers that they weren't just buying another game console... but it really didn't hurt them either... What I think helped the NES to sell well was 'Super Mario Bros.'.
They also struck out with the 'Vritual Boy' which was a bad idea... but I know what they were trying to do... I can never blame Nintendo for not being inovative (sorry for the poor spelling).
What I think hurt Nintendo the most was pissing off Sony. Sony was to make a CD drive for the Super Nintendo (or was it the N64?) and Nintendo decided not to use the CD drive and didn't tell Sony. Sony found out at a CES show (I think)... It was on 'Icons' a while back. Sony pretty much got their revenge by taking up most of the console market and Nintendo did suffer because of it... but Nintendo is a survivor.
One huge plus that helped Nintendo (in my opinon) was an alicence with SEGA. Although SEGA does make games for other platforms/consoles, they both found out they were stronger together than against one another....
I sided with SEGA when they first released the Genesis. Although Sonic was one of their best selling games, it sort of destoryed SEGA's serious-and-more-mature persona. Then Sega tried too hard to make cute games and only a few of them worked.
The Genesis was the last console I ever cared to own and then I went back to Amiga computers... Then Commodore/Amiga filed for Chapter: 11 and I was forced into PC gaming. I still miss the Amiga but I love PCs... Made lots of money off of PCs....

Innovation doesn't always pay off - the points you made on the Virtual Boy and SNES CD are great examples.
At least with the Revolution they are offering regular control schemes and online aspects.
I wish the system supported HDTVs like the 360 does and PS3 will (although if they don't side with analog inputs, good luck seeing anything in 1080i/p unless your TV has HDMI inputs - that's how they were leaning with Blu-Ray Players, so the PS3 should hold to formula).
Nintendo seems to miss the point that if you go into a Circuit City or Best Buy now, about 90% of all TVs they are selling are HDTVs. Sure, HDTV owners are in the minority, but it's a GROWING minority - just like DVD players were just a few short years ago.
I'll still more than likely pick up a Revolution though. I hate that it's not more powerful than a 1st gen X-Box, but it seems like they've found new ways to bump up graphic abilities, so that's cool.
I'm just glad they got their heads out of the sand and realized that online gaming is popular.

If the history of media ever taught us anything, it's that 85% (just a round number) of the time improved media does tend to take. We went from B&W to Color to Remote to Digital, and now HDTV, LCD/Plasma, and widescreen will soon be as common as anything else we currently have in our house hold. But it all comes down to price... which will drop as soon as quanty grows.
I am surprised that Nintendo didn't go the HDTV route but they may change their minds before the release of the Revolution. They might just be kicking around the idea and may choose to leave it out to keep the price more affordable. No telling.
My main interest lies into hacking the Revolution. If I can find a way to play all my NES roms on the system, then that would rock.
On interesting note about me. For some reason, I was really never into online gaming, but I am a huge UT2K4 fan... go fig...
As for innovation... You're right... It's like a double edge sword... On one hand, it's what drives the gaming indrusty and on the other, it's a huge risk to try and sell. Despite Nintendo's flaws in the past, they do have a fair record of selling strange stuff well... but they also have some draw backs as well... but they are survivors. Not bad for a company who started out making playing cards back in 1887...

Well, since their online arcade will be ready out of the box, you don't have to hack it to play their entire library of games - from the NES to the GC.
You can download all of their 1st party games (and the Konami and Capcom 3rd party games to date) through the service for a minimal fee.
It's gonna be an interesting E3 this year!abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Yeah.. I know about that... but what I was talking about is that I already have nintendo rom images on my computer. I play a lot of NES games all the time that way... and if there is a hack where I can play those roms, then I wouldn't have to download em.... But I think Nintendo already knows that and is going to try and prevent someone from hacking the system in that way.
I too am excited about E3. Since I'm not going to the show, they will be broadcasting the event on G4, so I'm going to be glued to that and the internet. I also hope that N'vidia and ATI show up with some surprises. Of course, my only interests will be in PC and Nintendo gaming, but I also would like to see what everyone else is doing.

If Nintendo does with their online system what Microsoft has with X-Box Live then you WON'T WANT to hack roms.
With X-Box Live, you can download HD-ready versions of old-school games like Joust and Gauntlet and not only play them on your hard drive, but play them ONLINE against OTHER PLAYERS AROUND THE WORLD and even chat with them while doing so.
Now, if I can go online and play some fool in Super Punch-Out, that will f'n own!order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

That would be a good reason as to why we should buy the roms from Nintendo. Someone told me that they just might spend some time to improve the graphics of the old roms too like they did with Super Marion Super Stars (I can't remember if that was the SNES name of the game or not).
This has been a really good conversation PimpDragon... I like your views and I find them to be rather intelligent. Maybe we should start an E3 thread when E3 airs and spend sometime chatting about the new gaming tech and what we believe is worth looking forward too...
Keep in touch. |

Agreed, Qix!
Buzz is that Microsoft will actually show their E3 footage on X-Box Live! That would own!
I'm all about keeping up on the current console games news!
Oh, and it was Super Mario All Stars! But, you were close!
