GREETINGS STARFIGHTER

on Friday, March, 03, 2006 6:40 PM
Thought I would post an update even though it's not directly TRON related. The "Starfighter" game from "The Last Starfighter" is available as a working full version now at:

I mention it mainly because there was a fair amount of interest in this when I posted on "Space Paranoids."

Alpha Centauri... is that you?

** looks closer **

Naa - it's just another damn Beta unit that looks like him.

He he he.

The Last Starfighter was an awesome film! When I saw that movie, I couldn't wait to play the real arcade version of the game in the film... but there WASN'T one!

At least, I never found it.

It's cool that you've gone and finally made one. Better late than never, right?

The screen shots look cool. I'm looking forward to enjoying the game!

My goodness you've even got Maria and Gort! I would love to own a Robbie and B-9 one day. Wish the manufacture would make a Maximillian and Vincent.

You got an awsome collection!

Just a heads up, the newest version of STARFIGHTER is available for download. New features include:

7-6 1-0 Fixed lighting glitch on Logo Demo
7-6 1-1 Fixed Music Single play (have to reload each time)
7-6 1-1 Made Attract sounds less frequent/added timer
7-6 1-2 Added toggle for soundefx during attract
7-6 1-3 Adding mousefire and mame weapon toggle
7-6 1-4 Death Blossom occasional malfunction
7-6 1-5 Pts 1-7 Integrating Variable Resolutions
7-6 1-6 Finished variable res/Intro shows in attract occasionally
7-6 1-7 New Centauri logo
7-6 1-8 Joystick incorporation
7-6 1-9 Fixed missile glitch in Death Blossom
7-6 2-0 Variable Turret Speeds
7-6 2-1 Variable Turret Speeds- Diagnostic mode variable

7-6 2-1 DOWNLOAD VERSION 5-1-6

There is limited joystick support but there are several freeware keymappers listed in the readme that should allow mapping to any peripheral. Also look for a fixed "Bishop of Battle" teaser and a teaser for "The War of the Worlds" arcade redeux (should be up in the next few days).

As always, http://www.roguesynapse.com for the downloads.

Cool! I was wondering if I'd find you here. Some bloke posted a link to your Starfighter game over at IMDB a while back and I found it that way. Funny how the Internet is so big yet so small.

Anyway, I had a few questions if you don't mind my asking. I'm glad you put some joystick support in there, that was one of my questions, so that takes care of that. Will there be a way to reconfigure the buttons? How about a difficulty setting or way to set number of lives, shields, weapons, and so on? Sort of like dip switch settings? Cheats? Hehe.

I have to say that this game is pretty much dead on. I even had a dream one night after playing it where there were tons of Starfighter arcade machines in places and people were lining up to play them. It was weird because some of them were normal arcade machines while others were sitting in the ground or mounted on walls. O_o... I have odd dreams.
