VSOD is my fighting robot for this years robot rally.
veggie steamer this year will have a spinning veggie steamer and other things.
here is picture from the 2004 RR (we didn't have a 2005 one btw)
VSOD was originoly built by kieth BUT since he entered two robots he gave the robot to me to drive in that year
about 6 monthes later at a meatingh of the AHRC (atlanta hobby robot club) he gave me it since it was broken and neded fixing.
the robot rally is in 2 monthes and i have yet to get the gears and such but i probley have them in the garage
also i found a part of a 1989 gameboy in a box of resistors!
so i'll be using some parts form that most likely'
but VSOD is powered by a TYCO RC canned heat RC car

I remember when I was in robot fighting competition. My design was pyramid shaped with the top cutt off. It's name was "Big Bad Yellow" and it was just a class competition. (Except for me, the class was entirely filled with men.) and I pretty much beat everyone in my weight class (I was with the featherweights). I really didn't go soft on them either. Because I was low to the ground, most weapons people has couldn't get me and do any damage so I pretty much got out unscathed. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep my robot because my teacher wanted it. But yeah, that was my days as a fighting robot builder.
Anyways, as for Veggie, I can't tell how wide the base is, but my advice to you is to keep it wide and low. That way is that most weapons (Unless they were killer wedges or some bladed weapons) can't get you and you'd be a tough one to flip. Furthermore, if you're using a spinning weapon, by having a wider base, it keeps you from flipping yourself.
