Well . . . I kind of get the "smash new expensive toys" videos. They're making fun of the insanity, in our consumer-driven and vain society. Whoever has the most expensive, shiniest, and frivolous new toys is the coolest. (I'm not saying everyone who has an iPod, for example, is like that. Sorry . . . that's kind of generalizing, I know. But I think you know what I'm getting at.)

So when they smash things right in front of people's eyes, who have been waiting for their new toy for weeks or months, it's kind of funny. But you know they're really just doing it for themselves, to get attention (and maybe money). Not because they're actually trying to make a "statement". That's just what they want you to think.

See, those guys I get a chuckle out of. It's stupid, but generally they are being harmless. They smash the things in the parking lot, away from other people so they don't get hurt.

But when some idiots actually create a home made bomb . . . firecrackers are bad enough (like in the Athlon blowing up video), but a frickin' bomb?! And what if something goes wrong? Like the bomb goes off prematurely, by accident? Then how funny will it be? Or if one of them gets the bright idea to blow up someone's property, in the local neighborhood?
