Twin Peaks on DVD

on Wednesday, January, 25, 2006 1:42 PM
I remember someone posting about the TV Series Twin Peaks here once. They were lamenting it's not being out on DVD.

I don't remember who or which thread, so I am posting here that I just read an article on AICN that says it's out. 7 episodes of Season 1 on DVD is apparently available now.

Do with this info as you will.

I'm confused. Season 1 has been available for a long time. They have never released season 2 though (For region 1. I hear that there is a French and austrailian season 2)

Yeah, you really had me excited there for a second. There's been plently of rumors about season two coming out... but that was supposed to be late last year and ... well you see how that panned out.

Paramout is a bunch of turds. I suppose I could buy the region 2 discs, but then I'd have to watch them on my PC.

EDT: However, in searching for information about Twin Peaks Season 2, I just found out that Dune, the extended edition, is out on DVD in just six days.

HOORAH!!! You could only see the extended version from the Disney Channel (or chinese) boots up until now, and they edited that for violence. AWESOME!!!!

What movie? "Fire, Walk With Me"?. Yes, it would be best if you at least watched Twin Peaks up to the point where they reveal who killed Laura Palmer before watching “Fire, Walk With Me.”

Bravo showed the entire series of Twin Peaks about five years ago or so. There have been full series boots made from that broadcast, if you want to pay/watch bootlegged DVR's.

The season 1 DVD's were SO well done, that I don’t think I could bear to watch Twin Peaks in compressed format hell, to be honest. It wouldn't do it justice.

Anyway... That gum you like is going to come back in style!

I have the Toto original expanded score CD, which I hear is hard to find and WAY out of print now. If you'd like a copy let me know. I love that score and I think even my hero, Danny Elfman, gave a nod to that score with his Scrooged score.

Dune is an interesting critter. There's the Frank Herbert Dune which is just such a complex maze of socio-economic commentaries that it can start to lose its sci-fi base and almost become a satire of sorts... and then there's the David Lynch Dune which is.... well classic David Lynch.

I love both. Dune, and its three follow ups Dune Messiah, Children Of Dune, and God Emperor Of Dune are by far the best Sci-Fi I have ever read. Sometimes you have to distance yourself from what Herbert, I feel, is just playing with theme-wise, and try and enjoy the books at their base levels.

Lynch's Dune is classic 80's sci-fi and is such an awesome 80's goth imagined version of the Dune universe that you can't help but love it. I think the set and art direction of this movie is certainly not for everyone, but I loved it. There are the definite undertones of the book there... it's not a "re-imagineering" of any kind, but it's also a little darker than the book was. Totally Lynch, and totally perfect Plus it has Jose Ferrer....

EDT: IMHO the sci-fi channel mini-series of both Dune and Children Of Dune sucked (Although, they did have good music scores)

I went to a Twin Peaks festival last night at a local theatre. Catherine Coulson (the Log Lady) was there and did a Q&A. It was fun... they showed the "European" pilot episode which actually had an ending ending... not just a cliffhanger.

Anyhow, Catherine said that the Season 2 DVD set should be out in Dec. complete with the first season pilot (which was not in the first season set).

I hope she's right!

I had completely forgotten that David Warner was in Twin Peaks. Now there's a connection between my favorite movie, and my favorite TV show.
