The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

on Monday, December, 19, 2005 4:27 PM
Saturday I got the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on dvd from my cousin. When the movie was out in theaters I missed seeing it due to assignments. Well, I've finally seen it and love it! I remember reading the novel back in Junior High. They did a great job with the film. Jim Henson Company, as usual, did a fantastic job with the Vorgons and puppet effects, the cgi and visuals looked amazing, and the humor was spot on. The wale scene I craked up during. I'm sure Greenpeace has something to say about that scene, but they can go hear some Vorgon poetry for all I care, that was FUNNY! I want a Marvin. He so wonderfully depressing!

I have a complaint about the dvd though. As visual in design as this movie was why oh WHY didn't they include concept art and some indepth anaysis about making the look and style of the film? It deserves it with designs that sweet. Oh well, I'm sure they did that to make you buy the book that details that.

As long as you're OK with it being a different story than the books, you'll be OK with it. I mean, on a basic level, it's the same in many places, however there are some things added that, in and of themselves are ok, were not in the books.

I've been wanting to check this film out. I didn't see it in the theatres months back when it was out and I never heard, read, or seen any other incarnation of it. All I know is that the number 42 has surfaced in many ways throughout my life, and I attribute that to the many Hitchhiker's fans I've come across. Long before I knew anything about Hitchhiker's Guide, the number 42 was slipped in to this or that by creative minds I've come across.

I clearly remember the play I was in 8th grade - "Alice Underground" - it was basically a combo of Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass... put to Beatles music. Yes, Beatles music. And believe it or not, the music worked great in the production! Too bad we (the cast) pretty much sucked and stunk the whole thing to high heaven. But conceptually it worked and was brilliant. Anyway, I remember one of the king's lines being "Rule 42 - it's the oldest rule in the book!" I don't remember exactly what rule 42 was, but I remember it was indeed rule 42. And I remember the director and writer of the production being a very creative guy and sticking a lot of little jokes in to the production that we (the young cast) didn't quite understand at the time.

Anyway, I've heard so many good things about the book, and radio series, and film too. The ads for the film looked very odd - RIGHT up my alley! So I want to check this out. I don't know if they're true to the other series, or books, or whatever. I'm just hoping they made something offbeat enough to entertain me.

Right, which Douglas Adams did mention in the one anthology I have.

I thought it was brilliant! I loved the look of the film and the VFX were awesome!

Marvin, voiced by the one and only Alan Rickman, was hysterical, but all were trumped by the power that was Zaphod Beeblebrox - the inimitable Sam Rockwell. Zaphod really should be President of the Galaxy!

"I'm stealing this ship and kidnapping myself!" LOL

The whale scene had me in tears in the theater! "Hey, what's that down there. Owwwwwn. I think I'll call it 'ground'! Maybe we can be frien...." SPLAT

BWAAAAAAHAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

I thought it was very much in the tradition of Adams (who did help write the screenplay, remember) and all of my friends who love the books really enjoyed the film.

And if "So long and thanks for all the fish" doesn't get nominated for "Best Song" at this year's Academy Awards, something's rotten in Denmark!order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I love that movie so much!

My friends got me HHG2TG stuffies for my Birthday! ^_^

I was so excited when it came out (I had been waiting for it for a few years.)

The only thing I DIDN'T like about it was that they made it into a love story between Arthur and Trillian. Sure, they had a kid in the books, but they didn't love eachother at all. Trillian was still in love with Zaphod!

But, enough with my ranting. It was a GREAT movie! order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pill

It's amazing how that song gets looped in your head. I pluged the dvd into the player and started watching it. My relatives where still there, and the moment the dolphins starting singing they wondered what the heck kind of movie I was watching.

Their freakin dolphins! What do you expect them to sing about? Why Tastey fish of chorse.

Another film I need to see . . . I want to know how it compares to the other versions. I've heard from other H2G fans that it's pretty faithful to the books, even though some things have been changed again.

I just don't visit the theaters any more, these days. It takes a movie like Star Wars, Terminator, Aliens, or - come on Disney - TRON to drag me to the theater now. It has to be a really special film.

Otherwise, I just wait for the DVD.

The movie was awesome. I only wished they made Mr. Proctor lay infront of the bulldozer like they did in the books... but thats ok.

I love the actress they got to play Trillion. Zoey looks like a realisticly cute girl... plus I love her voice (don't ask).

I really hope they make a 'Resturant at the end of the Universe' movie.order abortion pill morning after pill price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

I actually felt the portrayal of Zaphod was a little over the top. Zaphod, to me, was ever egotistical, self-centered, and completely at one with the universe that held him as the most important thing that ever was.

The film though, turned him into a Jim Carrey raving lunatic, which was amusing, but not REALLY what Zaphod was all about.

Of course, it's VERY difficult to translate dry subtle humor to a moviegoing audience, so I don't fault them for that. I just thought it was over the top is all.

Well, Zaphod was, to me, a loving mix of Bono and George W. Bush - which is what the President of the Galaxy should be!

Sam Rockwell just made me laugh with his very first lines and I was hooked.

"Hey, why you wastin' your time with this guy? I'm from another planet. Wanna see my ship?"

FRICKIN. BRILLIANT.

I just really enjoyed the universe they created for the film (everything Adams and everything not Adams) and just laughed from beginning to end!

It was a perfect little film!

I've learned to love it, even though it didn't live up to my standards.

The other thing I wondered was this:

Where the heck was Ford half the time? He was...well..almost always in the first book.

I was mad at it when I first saw the movie. I've gotten over it, though. on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I think I'll have to agree with Buzzard here...I mean, I liked her in Elf...but that's another topic all together.
