The one with the half Jefferson face and the buffalo on the back. I thought it was a foreign coin or something.

First the quarters (state quarters) and now the nickels. Makes you wonder if they'll do special edition dimes or pennies. They could do new invention dimes. Cell phone dimes...

I think what she means is that the coins serve no actual new purpose. It's still five cents.
But Dave, I know what you're getting at. It's cool because they're commemorating things about the country on the new coins. Westward expansion, and Statehood. I collected coins and like new designs on coins to be honest. What threw me for a loop was the profile of Jefferson. He's facing to the right, which only Lincoln has done on the penny up til now, right? Also he's sort of turned a little so you can see his brow. Up intil now it's always been a flat profile.
It's such an interesting design, it really threw me for a loop when I first saw it.

I have a collection of the original buffalo nickels and I love these new coins. I think they are a great improvement over the current nickel.

I noticed that about two months ago and was like, "Wow, they made new nickels?"
I should actually look at my money sometime!
