FreedomForever Wrote:I did not actually see what Prankster Bit said, but I can say this, as an American. We (the US) have'nt always been perfect. Far from it. There is'nt a country in the world whose government has never made mistakes. Sometimes these mistakes are small, sometimes they are big and cost many lives. The US has, truth be told, made a lot of mistakes of varying sizes. I can say that without feeling unpatriotic. I know it's true.
I know there's a lot of hard feelings around this subject, but I wanted to share my opinoins. Prankster, apology accepted.
It might be best if this thread was closed before things escalate more than they already have. |
Aw jeez, now the apologists have to chime in.
This is a thread about celebrating Independence Day, the anniversary of the birth of our nation, not about bad-mouthing the USA, or about apologizing for things you don't like about the USA!
What is with you people?!
Hikaru.EXE, you did a very nice thing starting this thread, and for that I thank you. You should not feel bad for starting this thread out of pride for our great nation. There is nothing wrong with that. The fact that people who happen to not be Americans visit this website is not a reason to not post about American-themed topics.
If somebody wanted to post about a UK holiday, or an Australian holiday, or a Canadian holiday or any holiday for that matter, who is anyone here to rain on their parade?
People who don't agree with the celebratory topic of this or any thread should have the decency and common sense to not post in it and not ruin everyone else's good time.
