To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

I wouldn't touch Longhorn with a ten foot pole at this point.

And even when it's finished, I may still try to avoid it. So long as Palladium or whatever they call it now is going to be integrated, I'm not interested. I don't like the idea of my machine telling me what I can or cannot do, and reporting my every move to one or more corporations.

Longhorn is going to be akin to the biggest spyware program ever.

I'm just wondering right now it might be off the subject here. The new 64 bit CPU's are they really good at this point in time. The reasion why I am asking is that there is still a big following in the 32 bit CPU's pf both the intel and AMD flavoured CPU"S. Right now I am stuck with using a 32 bit flavoured CPU. Is it really a have to have type of a thing with the new 64 bits. And are they running in the same cpu range as the good old 32 bit versions.

There is mixed fellings about it at this time. We all know that 64-bit is going to be the future, but at the moment it's hard to tell untill we get a proper OS that can handle it.

I really don't know too much on the tech end, but I do vist www.tomshardware.com to keep updated.

I'm an AMD fanboy (I got my reasons ) and when they bench marked the AMD Althon 64, the results was somewhat dissapointing but they did admit that the results isn't conclusive yet since they tested it on a 64-bit alpha version of XP (I could be wrong about the OS but it was a windows platform).

I can't make a judgement yet untill I get a 64-bit OS.

I understand your concern, but nobody can make a judgement yet untill it's released to the public because developers tend to make many changes before a final release.

I'm not sure of MS's other motives behind the LongHorn project but I really don't think MS would use their OS as a SPY tool. But I could be wrong.

It's good to be skeptic but it's also good to investigate. I tend to do this when I get my copy of Longhorn (well after it's been on the market and reviewed).

We'll see what happens then. I just hope I can still run my old-school games...

As far the apperance. Remeber back to the early xp betas, and the 'luna' interface. Its very similar though quite a bit is different 'under the hood'.

Under the hodd is quite MORE different than the lunar suface, XP and longhorn.......
