Hi, just curious if anyone has the longhorn alpha running, and what they think of it. I have a few copies running and, its obviously an alpha, but there is potiential. I have been playing with build 4051 for a few weeks now, and have played with early builds for a few months. It is getting better...
I think the gui is a little too cute. So i stripped it down, but it still doesnt retain the feel of NT. And I really liked NT/win 2k GUI.

I haven't tried it yet. Since my system is way too old to use for something like that.

Does it have all of the features like the new file system and such? And just how does one get on the Alpha/Beta for Longhorn?

I'd like to know how they got it too since we are actually in Microsoft's external testing program and we haven't heard a peep so far. Dish kmon!

...how reliable is longhorn verus XP and it seems rather early for a new os to pop up. x_o I had to switch from XP to 98 when they dropped the support. (And besides, my new PC's mobo couldn't support 98 and 98 se was making it freak out, so XP for it.)abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

well I actually have a few friends in microsoft gave me a copy a few months again, more recently a friend went to the intel dev conference and scored a few copies of the latest build (4051), but there are many leaked copies, only problem is finding keys, and in build 4051 you also have to negate activation. I wont openly discuss exactly how to get around such measures but in a few days i should have access to a few 'public' keys. So, email if interested.
The best way to get a copy is with bittorrent. If you dont have this program you can get it from here:
bittorrent
The torrents for longhorn 4051 are:
longhorn 4051
and
longhorn 4051
If the above just dosent work...I have an iso, so I could ul to someones ftp, or possible get a friend of mine to host it.
As for features, yes WinFS (few file system) is in build 4051, but....its not optimised so unless you have a really beefy system you experiance HUGE slowdowns. Its suprisingly stable for a windows alpha...lol. Jokes aside, It hasnt crashed that much, there are a few things that are 'broken'. So to get it working properly a few tweaks need to instigated. Most noticible a nasty memory leak is still in this build (you can actually watch exploere.exe suck more and more vm). If you disable the 'sidebar' (not really used much in this latest build...but kindof like the doc in osX), and filter browsing it fixes it. Also, MS has rewritten the tcp/ip stack, supossedly much better, but if you run static ips, you actually have to create a bat to reassociated a correct gateway routing path. Despite these problems, it is a fully function os, by that i mean you could use this workstation in its current form, though i'd advise against it. I have on a multiboot setup, on a few mechines and its running great.
If you got a spare 4-5gb of hd space and a little free time, I'd definitly try it! Dont worry about the problems, if anyone has questions on how to do the above fixes i can give a step by step walkthrough.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Hmm...I'm a little skeptical. I think I'll wait for the beta and sign up for that (if they pull from their XP testers).
Longhorn sounds interesting and the features look good on paper, but anyone remember a little OS names Me? abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I know I wouldn't mind signing up for it. But its always the question of what hardware it will work on. ANd my next best machine that I am using over here is a old netserver DM 4/33 from hp. And where and when can we sign up for beta testing it. Would be interesting to try it out even it it crashes with bugs in it.

Leaked copies through BitTorrent are just as bad as bootlegged copies of TRON 2.0 in my opinion.

why? m$ really loves leaked betas....Its a great way to pool some extra testors...and more importantly, find out how people negate activation. Tricky eh? Besides, m$ will let anyone dl it through msdn (atleast...who are a part of mdsn).

Well, it sounds to me like they don't mind. That they are useing the general public a "unpaid testors". And, as Kmon said, it will help them find out how ppl get around activation!! It sounds like it will be quite to their advantage, 'cause at this point they aren't responsible for any problems it may cause with your computer / programs.
But, it's a big gray area, for sure...

I am just wondering if it is possible legally though. Is to get onto their betatesting team where we can try it out on a availlable computer that we may have as a spare computer. Like theone that I am trying to rebuild up over here to do the testing with. Or eventually get running with what I have with the resources.
Would be nic to try out something for a change and maybe get a legal copy of it when it is finished with the debugging on it.
Have a great happy new years everyone.

sure you can, im part of the 'offical' test. You just need to be an msdn devolper and then you can have them mail a cd.
As far the apperance. Remeber back to the early xp betas, and the 'luna' interface. Its very similar though quite a bit is different 'under the hood'.
