I honestly canot belieeve this abomination is going to have a cinematic adaptation, and not only that but it has a list of famous actors! how can they think this garbage is going to be a good thing for their careers is beyond me .
Dont get me wrong, there are A TON of bad movies out there, but making a cinematic adaptation based on this sexually depraved book is REAAAAALLY pushing it , dont you think?

This infruates me, these books are an AWFUL, horrible twisting of what a *healthly*, safe, sane and consentual Dominant/submissive type of relationship is arranged and lived like.
It's a insult, mockery, and NOT for the uneducated masses or IDIOT teens to be copycating. FOR FRAK SAKE.
Keep that piece of crap "Twilight" derived FAN FICTION off the theater screen. On my tiny list of books I EVER think should be burned are the Twilight novels and the STUPID, INSULTING, INANE "Fifty Shade of Grey" books. >:-[
I pray this "movie" is SHELVED.
This article pretty much echoes my thoughts and lays out what is so very wrong with 50 Shades of Grey...

It's worse then you think-they've already released a SOUNDTRACK to the book already:

Never has the phrase CASH-IN been so appropiate!

Technically, Fifty Shades started out as a Twilight fanfic... which explains a lot, eh? I personally don't see the connection ("high schooler meets vampire with good family life who's strictly against premarital sex" vs "college kid meets businessman with a fucked-up past who gives BDSM a bad name"), but maybe a lot more than the character names changed when it got switched up.
OTOH, perhaps we should write an epic (and I mean that in its literal and original definition, not the colloquial meaning of "awesome") Tron fanfic, adapt it to "originality" just enough to keep Disney from suing us to magic-kingdom come, and watch the cash roll in... and then we can fund weekly screenings of our favorite film FOREVAH!!!! No, guys, this idea has merit. We'll be able to afford the GOOD popcorn. AND, like Alan, we'll even share.

Oh boy. Bad enough that a lot of damn good music got ruined by chasing by a bunch of fangirls (case in point: Spem In Alium. I cringe to think of all of the aforementioned fangirls who are probably "OMG this song is so amazing 'cause it was in Fifty Shades!!!" As a singer, music geek, and composer, I'm floored by the fact that the piece has FORTY SEPARATE VOICE PARTS. And fangirls probably don't give a damn. At least they picked the Tallis Scholars recording-- my favorite so far of this piece-- for the soundtrack...). That makes me feel about the same way as I did when I heard someone say that the Allegri Miserere Mei was used in fast-food commercial. Well, maybe worse, actually.
Okay, I admit it: if it had been a good piece of literature, I might have been happy that a "soundtrack" was released-- heaven knows I'm known for talking up music I mention in my writing, but... if you need this soundtrack to introduce you to music that, as one reviewer said, "makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end," you're probably also the sort of person who needs to buy crap like Baby Mozart. One can hope that all of these people at least branch out on their own and come to appreciate music for more than the fact that "OMG it was in Fifty Shades!!" and find stuff they like, rather than stuff they're told to like by a crappy piece of pop culture... seems if you're a "true" fan of the music, you'll go out and find it on your own. And keep looking until you find the recording that speaks to your heart (and yes, I have discovered music through reading about it-- most notably recall this is when I first became acquainted with "Albinoni"'s Adagio in g minor-- and that is precisely how I did it {btw: the Yale Cellos recording is a good one, if you can find it-- it's out of print}). Not wait for somebody else to compile it in a tidy little package for you and tell you what THEY think is worth listening to.
Oh, who the hell am I kidding? The woman is a scads-more successful writer than I will ever be, even if I were a good writer and could write so many circles around her that she'd get dizzy, so I guess I have no right to knock it, but... well, there's more to life than making money off your stuff and you still have to look in the mirror and know that you wrote it. I suppose she must like it, though, and see it as more than just a cash cow she'll milk to within an inch of its life, right? What do you want? I'm busy.

Actually no , the original fanfic was exactly the same and some pages are taken word for word from the twilight book.
If anyone wants to see the original fic in all it's horrendous and disturbing glory , some users on Proyect A.F.T.E.R are mocking the entire thing(846 pages!) here:
http://www.projectafterforums.com/index.php?s=5c6cc3f7429354153f86d4f8289a5d8d&showtopic=3347
That way people can read it without throwing up, God Bless those guys .
And I do feel your pain Kat I've always wanted to film an action movie here in my country, but much like the rest of latin america no one wants to produce something that isn't a romance story.

I'm still determined to read the books, just to see first-hand how bad they are. TBH with you, I didn't think Twilight was that bad. It was slightly catchy, and the worst thing i could see about it was that it certainly wasn't something teenage girls-- or anyone-- should be emulating in terms of relationships and such. TBH I have read romance novels* that were soooo bad that I can't believe they got published-- and the worst part is, you know if it was published, then it probably got the hell edited out if it, yet it's STILL really bad. So Twilight seemed pretty tame in comparison.
*usually when there was nothing else around to read. But I mean really bad. I'm sure I could provide titles, but really, don't subject yourself to such hell merely for the sake of research. Just take my word for it.

It gets even WORSE!
I read an article the other day where a wife is divorcing her husband because of his behaviour after she read the book based on her interpretation of the book:

You mean like all those dudes who expect their SOs to be porn stars?
Just goes to show though how it's twisting BDSM-- you can't force somebody to be into a certain kink.
But wow. Dude's wife buys sexy underwear and he's pissed off??? I'd tell an SO to bite me if they read some stupid book and wanted to act it out too, and I can understand if she comes up with new ideas he's not into, but he doesn't want to see her in sexy underwear? I mean, there's "low libido" and then there's dead... we assume the dude's not nonsexual/asexual since he got married and we assume he was attracted to her at SOME point. Guess he could've been closeted all that time, or else there's something else going on in the relationship. The book may've been the catalyst for the divorce but I highly doubt it was the only reason.
The article mentioned a supposed "baby boom" because of all the people getting it on after reading the book. I was on a forum discussion once where people were complaining about that-- apparently there are even onesies that say stuff like "I was a 'Fifty Shades' baby!" and junk. O...M...G. There comes a point at which people need to get a life, methinks. Like, there's fandom and even rabid fandom (which we here would know NOTHING about, heh), and then there's.... that.
Ah well. Not sure why I even waste my time worrying about it. It's silly, yeah, but like I said, James make a fuckton of money off this and is laughing all the way to the bank while I sit here crunching a budget and criticize her shit and can't even get my *friends* to read stuff I write, so, yeah. Heaven knows I've got better things to do with my time than bitch about it-- otherwise being that focused on it, even negatively, just makes me as shallow as all the uber-fanfolks, right?order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion What do you want? I don't know....I feel there's something that article is not telling us, because the article mentions that the husband complained about his wife's behavior ( which indicates a series of actions and not a single one) it seems to me like the wife freaked out when the husband refused to roleplay as a dominant jackass, that and as you say, probably that marriage was having a bad time and this incident killed it.
That reminds me of something i read on stephanie meyer's forum a long time ago , a post where a woman admited that one day while watching watching her husband change a lightbulb( seriously) realized that while he was a good partner that stood by her side and loved her the whole way through , he was no Edward, so...she left him...Add to that a bunch of other users from the forum saying " OMG THAS SO ROMANTIC EDWARD FOREVER" and the failure is complete.
By the way, I would be horrified if my mother named me after that mysoginist idiot that is the character of Christian Grey, why do I mention this? Because many mothers are naming their babys after characters of this book, I feel so sorry for those kids

Hell, doesn't everybody look at their SO one day and say "shit, this isn't the passionate soulmate I've always dreamed of"?
It's just that, the realistic people realize that for 95% of us, our wonderful perfect soulmate isn't out there. If you can find someone who's a good person and who you get along with and you respect each other and make each other laugh and you can stand to wake up next to them in the morning and, yes, see them in sexy underwear (and don't go apeshit when they leave those underwear on the bathroom floor for a week)... and be happy... then that's what it's about. If you want more, then you'll never be happy... sounds like people like that woman haven't figured that out yet.
