Tron references in tonight's episode of "Once Upon a Time"

on Monday, February, 20, 2012 1:04 AM
For those not keeping up with this, "Once Upon a Time " is an ABC show about fairytale characters transferred into alternate lives in our world by an evil curse. The show is written by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who also worked on TRON Legacy.

In this episode, Henry (a boy), is playing one of those portable retro-arcade collections that have the playing screen built into the game controller. On the screen? Space Paranoids! Emma (the boy's mother) recognizes it, mentions it by name, and comments on how she used to play it when she was little. She also quotes Flynn by telling him, "It's all in the wrists."

Too bad I missed it!

I was actually cracking jokes about this with ShadowSpark last week! I made a few sarcastic observations to how some of the characters would translate to Storybrooke.

What I joked was that there was a repair shop on the edge of town, founded by a man named Gibson Baines (Gibbs). Gibson had three sons. Two of them found nice girls - one (Alan) married the nice girl and had a kid. The other (Flynn) shacked up with his girlfriend and had a kid, but were going to marry "when they get around to it." The third son, Zachary (Roy), never married, but went on to sell insurance and just stayed out of everyone's way.

Well, the old man died, the two older sons vanished, the wife and girlfriend (Lora and Jordan) tried to find them, but "bad things happened" and they died in a car crash just past the city limits. Zachary quit selling insurance to take over the family electronics shop and care for his nephews, Eugene Baines and Alexander Canas. The boys, especially Alexander, have been in and out of trouble with the law for general mischief and some old-fashioned "pissing off the mayor."

Of course, after they end up in EMMA'S jail, she ends up cutting a deal and the three become the Storybrooke equivalent of the Lone Gunmen.

It's an entire universe in there, one we created, but it's beyond us now. Really. It's outgrown us. You know, every time you shut off your computer...do you know what you're doing? Have you ever reformatted a hard drive? Deleted old software? Destroyed an entire universe?"

You can watch the whole episode on Hulu. The Space Paranoids clips is towards the end. I think the last 10 minutes or so.

Here's a blurry clip/version:

OK, here's where the context gets side-splitting. Regina (the Evil Queen from Snow White) has her adopted little boy (who is actually Snow White's grandson), Henry. Henry is aware of the curse affecting the town, usually has his nose in a book of fairy tales trying to "crack the case," and uses a playground as his favorite thinking spot.

So Regina burns down the playground and tries to destroy the book of fairy tales to derail Henry from looking any further into the curse. And HOW does she try to placate the young man? By getting him a video game system (because those kill imagination and make you less interested in books and stories, dontcha know?).

So the fact Henry's game of choice is Space freakin' Paranoids? Hilarious.

Of course, now I'm picturing a crossover where Castor, Clarence (from Ghost in the Machine) and the White Rabbit are all the same fellow...abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

TRON appeared again on the latest episode. This time in the form of Henry's lunch box. Original TRON logo too, not Legacy.

Anybody got screencaps of any of this? Not that I'm doubting you, but I'd like to see it and I don't have access to the show.

Guys, this fanfic crossover needs to happen YESTERDAY. Either Jefferson's hat can act as the portal, or Rumple made some deal with Flynn a LONG time ago.

Spark, it'll have to wait till ABC posts the episode on their website.

And J, I think in order for TRON to work in the Once universe, it'd have to happen AFTER the curse.

The grid is only accessible through one specific method, and only exists because humans created it. Since there's no computers in the fairytale universe, it wouldn't make much sense for them to have access to it from there.where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

The other out is Jefferson's hat. The Mad Hatter's creations do allow him to cross between worlds. Yeah, it would have to be after the curse is cast, but wow...Still picturing Zeus as a universe-displaced White Rabbit. on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill onlineabortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

The hat or the door, would also need to be doing matter/energy conversion. Stepping onto the grid isn't like walking through a Stargate to a different world. The body has to be converted into a different form entirely.

And as far as Zeus is concerned, he always seemed more like a Mad Hatter type to me than a White Rabbit.

And somewhere from cyberspace, a BIG middle finger is extended. Not every Disney fairy tale can trace its linage to Grimm, Regina dear.

The other chuckle I had about Regina trying to placate Henry with a video game? The guy playing Jiminy Cricket (Raphael Sbarge) is probably better known for his work in BioWare, where he played both Revan's and Shepherd's self-appointed voice of conscience.

Space Paranoids handheld

Looking at this again... terrible choice for the controller. Don't know how anyone is expected to operate a tank with a swivel turret using that configuration. But now I'm just being nitpicky.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online
