A Question

on Sunday, February, 19, 2012 12:45 PM
Is there anyone else here who knows relatively little about computers, but is still a big TRON fan? I've been thinking about buying some books on the basics of computers so I could have a deeper understanding of the Tron universe as of late.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

I work in IT, but I picked up a copy of "How Computers Work" from the library and "A+ for Dummies" also works for reference.

It's an entire universe in there, one we created, but it's beyond us now. Really. It's outgrown us. You know, every time you shut off your computer...do you know what you're doing? Have you ever reformatted a hard drive? Deleted old software? Destroyed an entire universe?"

I'm what I refer to as an "advanced end user"-- i can muddle through basic stuff on my Linux box if I can Google it and I'm one of the ones folks at work come to when they need computer help but not nearly as much knowledge as I'd like (and unfortunately the CS program at my college sort of sucked [instructors flaky and such], so even had I taken a few computer courses like my advisor said I should, not sure how much I really would've picked up).

However, there are plenty of resources in books, online, and on forums devoted to various programs/operating systems. I've not found any sort of advanced computer knowledge is required for understanding the movies, but it's quite helpful if you want to write (or read) fanfic that might get more technical.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

What do you want? I'm busy.

Program, please!

Working with the actual hardware is the most fun I've had with computers. I bought a couple books and figured out how to build a desktop PC, then eventually put it together and turned in on!

I don't know any software or programming languages, but installing all the cards and boards and memory and fans onto a motherboard made me feel like an insider to the world of TRON. Sort of my own Creator identity. It's about as easy as putting Legos together, and then you'll know the layout of the Grid!

Yeah, I figured I wouldn't need to know any advance computer knowledge, but just enough to get a better grasp would be great.

Yes, I got stuck on a story I started about a hacking program-- it's "Tron-inspired" in that it's about programs but doesn't actually take place within the Tron universe (parts of it are here, though it's been developed more since this post: http://www.tron-sector.com/forums/default.aspx?a=top&id=424789 ) because I don't know nearly enough about hacking to make it work. Which is sad because I like this character and storyline a lot, but I just can't make it realistic without having a lot more knowledge than I do.

A lot of my stuff I can manage to muddle through and only reference basics, but that one would require a lot of technical stuff.
