Hey all, I just read a local news article and learned that Joe Kosinski's film, "Oblivion" (or "Horizons", the name keeps changing), will be filming here in my hometown, Baton Rouge, and also in New Orleans, from March through May 2012.
They are taking applications and photos for extras this Wednesday, February 15th, down in New Orleans. Unfortunately, I'll be at work so I can't apply, plus I don't have any recent (or professional) photos of myself, having never done the whole "extra" thing before. But it sure would be fun!
The Baton Rouge portion of the filming will be done on sound stages at Celtic Media Centre, which is almost directly across the street from my company's building. Unfortunately, I work at a contractor site in downtown Baton Rouge, which is nowhere near our home office, nor the studios.
Since it stars Tom Cruise, maybe I'll catch a glimpse of him around town. Or even better, I might see Olga Kurylenko or Andrea Riseborough! Rawr! LOL!
I remember when they were filming "Battle: Los Angeles" here, and they had a big building facade that looked like it had been bombed and it had a crashed helicopter hanging off the roof, all burned out with bent rotors. Apparently, I was driving by during shooting because they had thick black smoke billowing out from the chopper and the roof. It was pretty wild to see! I didn't know what the heck was going on! It's not something you see every day! LOL!
