Okay, backstory for Spark and Flynn's first meeting...here we go...

Twenty-year-old Revan 'Spark' Ashkevron pushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear and sighed. She pulled her heavy backpack higher on her shoulder, gathered her papers and left the room, mumbling to herself. "I have to get that bug out of it by Thursday, or I'll never be able to meet my deadline. But where is the bug coming from? I've already checked the-Oof!" Spark had been so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't noticed the young man coming out of the doorway and walked right into him. Both of them were knocked to the ground, and Spark's backpack, packed past capacity with heavy books, split along one seam, spilling its contents all over the hallway, papers flying everywhere.

"Oh man, I'm really sorry!" said the man, immediately moving to help gather up the scattered books and papers. "No, it's my fault," Spark said. "I should have been paying more attention to where I was going." Spark examined her torn backpack and sighed again. "Great."

"Where are you headed?" The man asked, still holding an armful of Spark's books. "The café," Spark replied. "Well, since I'm headed over there as well, would you like a hand with these books?" the man asked. Spark smiled. "Yeah sure," she said. "Thanks."

"No problem. I'm Kevin Flynn."

"Revan Ashkevron. Call me Spark."

"Flynn."

They entered the café and found a booth near a window. "Thanks for the help, Flynn."

"Like I said, no problem." Flynn looked at one of the books Spark had been carrying. "Programming and FORTRAN? You're studying computers?" Spark nodded. "Yeah. Right now I'm attempting to get the bugs out of a program I'm writing. If I don't get it working by Thursday, I'll never meet my deadline."

"Bugs?" Flynn asked. "I'm also studying programming. Tell me what's wrong. Maybe I can help."

Spark shrugged. "Well, I'm writing a geometry program. It's supposed to calculate the shortest distance between points, but whenever I plug in the data, I get the error message 'variable not found'. I've gone through the code, but I can't find the problem."

Flynn made a thoughtful noise. "I could have a look at it if you like. A fresh set of eyes might help." Spark gave him a shocked look. "You'd spend hours going over code to help someone you barely know? Why?"

Flynn shrugged. "I like programming and I've got nothing else to do." Spark gave Flynn a confused look then shrugged. "Okay. Come by Lab 23-C around 4 this afternoon." Flynn nodded. "Alright. See you then." He got up and walked out of the café, leaving Spark to finish reorganizing her papers.

---Later---

6:30pm found the two programmers still going over the pages of code that made up Spark's program. Flynn tilted his head to one side as he noticed something. He tapped Spark's shoulder and pointed to a spot on the paper. "Is this supposed to be an 'O' or a '0'?" Spark looked at the spot Flynn was indicating. Then she buried her her head in her hands and groaned. "A '0'," she said, voice slightly muffled. "No wonder it can't find the variable." She walked over to the stack of punch cards and pulled out the one with the mistake. She glared at it for a moment, then tossed it into the waste-basket. Then she walked over to the card monitor and retyped the line of instructions. The machine whirred and spat out a new punch card. Spark put the new punch card in the stack and carried the stack over to the reader. She fed the cards in and waited for the readout.

"Yes!" Spark exclaimed as the readout came back. "It works!" She turned to Flynn, a bright smile on her face. "Thank you so much for your help, Flynn."

Flynn grinned back at her. "What are friends for?" was his reply.

Okay, done with Flynn and Spark's first meeting. What do you guys think?

Next is Spark finding out that she's stuck in the system/Her reaction to that/How Flynn/Tron/Yori/etc. try to help.

Now I said that Spark learning she's stuck in the system would be next, but I decided that I'm going to write the pieces as inspiration comes, as opposed to in chronological order. So I'm writing the last piece on that list.

"Rrrr.....Are we going into the city today, Spark?" Rinzler asked, watching as Spark re-braided her dark hair. Rinzler liked Spark's hair, it was different from a program's. Softer, and more solid somehow, and Spark had laughed the first time Rinzler had asked to touch it. She was teaching him how to braid it. The action was relaxing for both of them. Rinzler had something to focus on that wasn't related to violence, and Spark enjoyed the feeling of someone else working on her hair. She hadn't found someone willing to do that in a long time. Yori had done so, and there had been a couple of ISO girls who had liked to trade hair styles, but after the coup there had been more important to things to worry about than hair.

Spark fastened the end of the braid and shook her head. "No Rinz. We're going to the cove. I felt a change last night, and I want to investigate it. Get your weapons. We don't know what might be out there."

Rinzler nodded and went to get his disks. By the time he returned, Spark stood near the entrance, waiting for him.

---The Cove---

The water was glowing when Spark and Rinzler entered the cove. Silvery light gave the walls a liquid shimmer. Rinzler's attention was attracted by the glowing walls, but Spark was focused on the water. She frowned as she caught a glimpse of gold amidst the silver of the water. "Rinzler, wait here," Spark said. Rinzler gave her a questioning glance. Spark waded into the water and splashed her way towards the golden glimmer. She plunged her hands into the water and pulled the gold-circuited program up to the surface. Clu was limp in her arms and she grunted under the weight. "Rinzler, come give me a hand here, will you?"

Rinzler splashed his way out to them and helped Spark pull Clu to the shore. Rinzler watched the User examine the admin program. Spark brushed her hand lightly against Clu's cheek and frowned. She sat back with a confused look on her face. He registers as brand new! He hasn't even been activated yet. That can't be right. What the hell is going on here? Spark scratched her head and sighed. I guess the only way to find out is to activate him.

Spark placed her hand on the center of Clu's chest and closed her eyes. Energy flowed from Spark to Clu and the program's circuitry brightened.

Clu opened his eyes to see a familiar face looking down at him. "Spark?" he asked. "Welcome back, Clu," Spark said, helping Clu sit up.

"W-what's going on?"

"I was hoping you could tell us." Spark's face was unreadable.
